Default Scrambler 50 questions

First off is about the exhast limiter(s). My boys quad is a 03 scrambler and from reading the post I understand I need a new CDI box before most of the other changes will be most noticable.

Back to the subject. The only thing I can see is that there is on large bolt running into the muffler at the front (of the muffler). Do I just remove that screw/bolt to take out the limiter or is there something else? There is the "heat shield" looking thing running about the full length of the muffler but it doesn't appear to affect anything.

I will soon be getting the CDI box and changing out the filter. What should I do about the intake snorkel? Should I just remove it or is there anything else I should modify.

My boy is hitting the rev limit constantly and I know he would love more power. The CDI is an obvious place to begin but I am green as to the exhaust limits and the intake snorkel. All help is appreciated.

On the stock exhaust, there may be a cap on the exit of the exhaust and there may be a washer between teh head and the pipe.. the bolt that you are refering to is a drain on the exhaust (I think). The '03's may or may not have these in the exhaust.

The CDI is your biggest problem, correct... swap it out and you'll see a big change. On our filter, I just attached the Uni directly to teh carb, but our tire hit it and ripped teh filter.. I'm going to figure out some way of modifing that today.

We put a Tecnigas Quadder pipe on our quad... according to some dynoi results that were posted, there was a bout a 33% increase in horsepower and RPM's with this pipe. By playing with the gearing, I was able to hit 33mph with me on it. In it's current configuration, it'll do 25mph with good power.

Check out the videos at www.apb-racing.com to see may daughter on her's. The June 22 video is stock, the others are configured like it is in my signature.
