polaris 50 vs polaris 90
Which one does he/she fit on better? DO yuo plan on racing or just riding? Since the 50 is a new smaller chassis, there may not be a lot of performance parts availalbe (ie pipes, suspension upgrades). The 90 is a much larger quad, but does have a lot of upgrades availalbe for it.
I'd get the 50 if he was on the small size and upgrade later... if he's a big kid, get the 90... teh 90 is a proven machine now.. teh 50 is new this year, but a lot of stuff is probably based on the larger Scrambler 50.
Does the Pred 50 have an independant front suspension? I've herad it does and doesn't from some people... if if doesn't, I'd look at other quads.

If he fits on the 90 get the 90. My kid is 5 and already outgrowing the 50. You can always limit the 90, then when ready take out restrictors, cheaper than "hopping up" the 50. Neighbor has on and is a great machine (the 90), has taken a lot of abuse and no problems.

If your just going to putt around or trail ride, the 90 will be fine with it limited until he's ready to open it up.
Ya gotta start them out on something... kids don't start off on 26inch 18speed bikes.. you shouldn't expect them to start off on a quad that has the capability of 50mph!

I hope you did not take my reply the wrong way. I was definitely not suggesting putting a rookie on a very fast quad. There was not the "racing" factor in my response, as I that maybe is what you were thinking. We are in agreement that if he is planning on racing, there is more to the decision. What I meant by "hopping up" was in reference to the 50 were they to purchase it. I bought a 50 for my son and am in the process of building it up as he is outgrowing the power. Were it not for my 2 younger sons, I would have gone with a 90 to begin with and left restrictors in place, put 50cc size tires on etc. I have put way more money into the 50 than I would have had I just bought a 90. (by the way I will take off performance parts before passing on to younger brothers) Hope this helps clarify my previous response.

be aware a predator 90 is prob the largest 90,if hes trail riding its ok,but i have a very good rider who is 5yrs old,we had to raise the floor boards 2 inches and pull the bars back so he was comfortable, the xtreme tantrum 50 or 90 might be a better choice, same aftermarket parts are available for either...jmho

We bought the E-ton Viper 90 for my son this summer who is 5 years old.I'm glad we got the 90 for trail riding as it has lots of power for hills and sand. However I totally agree with scramblur50 about racing. We raced the Viper and we were racing against kids up to 13 years old on heavily modded 90s so my son was getting a little discouraged. If racing had been in my plans from the beginning I would definetly have gotten a 50cc model. The viper 50 is the same size as the 90 though, just with smaller tires and engine. If your going to keep the bikes stock and aren't that worried about racing I would definetly get the 90.
