LT 80 Super Stock

LT 80 Super Stock
Long time reader, first time poster. Son currently has a LT 80, built by CGR. Has extensive head work, clutch mods, etc., but stock carb, pipe, and breather. Quad pulls holeshot with most of its competitors but we also race some local tracks against some mods, (carb, pipe, etc). What can we do to get another edge without changing carb, pipe, etc and leaving stock class. Also can we install bigger carb, filter and pipe to run this track and then convert back to stock for others without major clutch work? Would love any advice. Also would like to contact LT 80 Jack about possible other work. Looking forward to advice.
Thanks,

Bigboss, we also run a CGR lt80, stock carb and airbox but we added a hetrick pipe this year. Honestly, i do not think you need to go with a bigger carb or change the air box on the lt80. With the races we will run this coming year they have change to 90 production class, so now if we wanted to we can add a bigger carb. and change airbox, but we are not changing any of that, the only thing we have changed from super stock is added a pipe and PEP shocks. As, for LT80(jack) he is headed for AZ and CA right now and not sure when he will be back on here. If you do change to a bigger carb the stock air box does not fit , as far as changing it back and forth to run stock class then mod class, to much trouble for the little gain the power. I would suggest leave the carb and airbox stock and spend you money on good shocks.

Most the lt's we have raced with around TN and KY run work shocks, until this year we have had to stay with the stock shocks because of the rules, when we have raced locally with kids that have work shocks honestly they looked as if they were taking a beating almost as bad as our kid with stock shocks. The PEP's will but a big hole in your pocket, but they are worth the money. Anything is better than stock. Hajimoto is right you need not more travel on your shocks than you have ground clearence, you will be bottoming out and doing alot of damage.
