Aaarggh!! LT80 petcock problem (still)
I removed tank and rinsed it a few times with gas ( that was way back , I think on your good advice LT80). I blew air through the fuel outlet last night, and 'poof', it's flowing. I see some petcocks on ebay for $60, so I might splurge on one.I don't want it to keep having this problem. Plus I'd have a properly functioning petcock then.
can't check to see if it starts cuz I think my rebuilt starter is fried. I barely even got any use outta it.I replaced brushes and plate, cleaned armature.maybe it needs new armature. that would basically make it a new starter. The pinion and gears were good. BUT I really don't want to keep going through the hassle of pulling that #%&$%@& starter out. It's way quicker to rebuild the top end.Aaaarghh!!

one more thing, both times I took it apart and cleaned it, I never had fuel flow in prime or res.I could get flow with vacuum once engine started. When i blew air through the other night, it started pouring out in prime.I'm thinking the air opened the diaphram.I'm afraid it may stick again.
fishslab, has yours stuck shut again?

Mine has worked well for several monthes since the air trick. My guess is as it sits for long periods with big temperature changes it gets fouled. It may be something you do every once and a while. I try starting it before any trip now and so far have not had to do anything to it.

guys stop with the air compressor stuff. i had the same problem when i put on my daughters 20mm carb it would not get enough fuel. confused buyer don't buy one on ebay or $60 bones. just go down to your yamaha dealer and buy a banshee petcock for $22 it wil fit right in the gas tank and now your fuel problems will go away. i did it and have not had a problem since. plus your kid will be alot happier!!!!!

I've seen that posted before; banshee petcock (may have been your post). I asked a couple of Q's but never got reply.Who sells them for $22?Does it just bolt into same spots, no other mods, and no leaks??What year of Banshhee was the same for this year ('93) of LT80?

i just went into the local yamaha shop and got a banshee one it was part#2GU-24500-01 doesn't say what year don't think it matters. no leaks, no modifing, just slip it in and go. u may need a little longer fuel line. if you can't find or get one e-mail me at gkidmotorsports@yahoo.com and i'll hook you up with one.
