ATV Safety course for kids
#1
I have had my son signed up for the ATV safety class since November, every time I call the ATV safety institute to find out what is going on, they keep saying they dont have enough kids for the class. Anyone have their kids go through the class and if so, did you wait a long time for the class ? I want to move him up to a larger quad and get rid of his 50, but he has to have the 50 to take the class.

I have run into the same issue with the age versus machine deal and the local rider's course.... Now I am one to follow laws, but I think it is time that the industry realize that it is not against the law in many states to allow a child under 12 to ride an 80 cc quad. I also feel that trying to bundle all kids into that group is a dis-service to the riders and to the industry. I persoanlly would like to see them follow what ever the local laws say, but because they are promoting the rider courses, I guess that is not going to happen.
I do feel it a little strange that they (manufacturers) promote the safety course, then deny the child who needs it the most.....to my way of thinking, it is just a way of increasing profits by forcing you to buy the smaller 50cc machine, even though your 8 year old is almost 5 ft tall and weighs nearly 100 lbs, and is way too big for them... something wrong there with their thinking....
My kid's knees are almost hitting the handlebars when he sits on his Raptor 80 now...imagine what he will be like when he is 11....
I don't know about you, but I'd sure like to see that hundred bucks they promise you if you take the course go to giving the kid a free helmet instead. Why not give them the choice between the course, or a helmet.... I bet I know which one that the majority would choose.
