Tommy Help!! Need shock specs
#1
Tommy, I'm working with Hetrick setting up an Extreme 100. Using their +2 a-arms but they are backordered for a week. Talked to works about shocks and they want measurements with a-arms installed. Would like to order shocks now! Have any specs on shock length for Extreme with + 2 a-arms?? Stock rims, no spacers. Doing their full pkg. for chasis and engine. Are the Dinli a-arms the same as Extreme?? I can get some for a Dinli right in town. Any other advice on susp. chasis??

Hetrick's pipe will not fit on that machine unless his new style will. The only pipe I know that will fit is either the WRH pipe from WRH racing or the Ex-Pipe from maximum-rpm.com Use to be the Tomco Ex-pipe

you wont need longer than stock shocks for extended a-arms ,you will however need the shocks valved for the plus 2 arms..most a-arms are built for stock length shocks unless they are long travel and most of those use a shock in the 12 inch area.....

So I should just get works shocks for stock a-arms and tell them I'l need them valved for +2" per side? Again does Dinli use same a-arms as extreme? Can get Dinli a-arms now! Also putting on +2" swingarm any ideas there for shock? Heard the Hetrick mods are faster than big bores? Are the big bores just overbored stock cyls.?

the xtreme uses a different spindle set up that the dinli, the dinli uses a clevis type like the kasea and lt80...hetricks ported stock cyl may very well out perform an unported big bore.however port the big bore an there is no comparison...on the shocks tell works what you have they will set the shock up accordingly...just a recommendation , unless your rider is extremely aggressive have your shocks set up 10 pounds or so less than your riders weight ,they are usually on the stiff side...

Thanks for the help, are the big bores just oversized(bored) stock cyls? I saw one apart and the crancase looked like it had had some grinding done? For piston clearance I imagine. Where do you get big bore pistons? I have done alot of porting and engine rebuilds, I saw porting from one the companies and I know I can do better.
