For what it is worth i went and looked at the LEMS, Kaseas, ETONS, and the Polaris...i have to say that they all looked the same (plastic removed), and from what i can tell i woud bet that alot of parts are interchangable.

As far as performance, this thing is great, great suspension travel, great egros for kids, and the list goes on.

Down side, no reverse (though dont think it is necessary on a 200lb quad...though time will tell), no lights (but there are TONS of companies that sell kits for these), and no foot brake (i really wanted this to teach my son how to use the foot brake for the rear brakes), i am looking for a company that sells a conversion (i am sure someone does).

As far as price, i Paid 1799.00 OTD for the polaris, I told the dealer that i would go down the street and buy a eton for 1800.00 and he matched the price...

I will post reviews as time goes on..

as far as i have been able to tell nobody makes a brake for the P90
i am in the process of manufacturing them for sale it's not clear yet if they will be available via an aftermarket atv parts distributor or from my own web site not yet up but the address is www.socalatv.com we haven't hammered out the details with the distributor as of yet
they should be ready for sale in about a month or so, the price has not yet been determined
the new brake will be of an improved design only to make production easier and less costly we have had the current one out on several rides and it has performed perfectly a major improvement for the P90 it has proved much safer for smaller kids with smaller hands
some modification will need to be done, the floorboard and the side cover will need to be cut some and two holes will need to be drilled in the floorboard mount other than that installation should take about one hour and minimal tools are required here is a link to some photo's i also have a couple photo's of the lights we used on the P90 they are trail tech 20 watts each one flood and one spot they work great and mounting was easy they run about $45 each and are very bright

The brake came out GREAT!!!! How is it holding up? I like the idea of leaving the hand brake on also. Big up's to ya. let me know when they are ready for sale. I have been waiting for this.

Awesome job!!!!

socalgrizz,

Looking good!!!! Sure hope you can get your foot brake design fully tested and ready for market release very soon. There's lots of "young riders" who would definately benefit from this engineering improvement. Keep us posted and its final cost.

If possible, you can also use a "Y" or inline bracket on its rear brake assembly. Much like on an 1985 Honda ATC-200e, they have both hand and foot brakes. If you want, I can send you photos of how they built their dual brake rear assembly. This way, you can target the folks who either want only back brakes & the folks who want dual brake brakes.

Great work!!!!

I reviewed your online pictures again. Yes, you already have the Y" cable bracket on the rear assembly. So much for trying to surf pictures when the phone rings at the same time... Looks great.

Just wondering, will your production version also have a brake light switch as well? I was looking at http://public.fotki.com/socalgrizz/p...ake_20005.html and didn't see a switch. As an improvement suggestion, you could use a sealed buttom switch from an adult quad (like an AC 500i unit) and build it into your released design. For wiring, you could run a "brake active" wire to the tail light plug and a run a tail light off your front light switch. If you do this, you could possibly use the same white plug on its current factory tail light. The purchaser / installer could simply unplug the factory white plug, roll back its factory wiring, twist tie it to the frame, then they could simply plug in the same plug and mini wiring harness from your foot brake kit. Tail lights and brake lights with your foot brake kit. Now that would be really cool.

Just a few ideas to make your future foot brake offer even better...

socalgrizz,

Below is something I posted on another forum. To me, a foot brake on the Pred-90 brand is an excellent safety increase idea. Many kids use the foot brake for "panic stops" and more stopping strenght power. Unknown to many, kid's legs can bench press much more lbs compared to squeezing their little fingers. I also like the idea of your dual control design. Excellent idea for even more safety. To me, the CPSC should force all minis to have dual factory brake systems.

Just wondering how your production / distribution status is going???

Thanks for the update.

--------------------------

The customized foot brake for our Pred-90 is 9/10 completed. My local welder guy told me he only needs 1 more hour to finish it. Actually, creating a foot brake for the Pred-90 is very easy. After you see a few different designs, many experienced welding folks can make their own. Or, have your welder buddy (or welder student) make one for you.

If "socalgrizz" could finish the stress tests with his BETA product, build in a brake light switch, finalize his Distribution Company and have his product reasonably priced, you may want to go with his foot brake system. To me, his product (of what I've seen so far) is the one to "fill the foot brake gap" on the Pred-90 brand. As per socalgrizz's last foot brake posting, only 1 (maybe 2) more weeks to go.... We'll worth the wait for this Pred-90 brand improvement upgrade.

Hope this helps...
