Default Newbie here w/ question?

Hi my name is Crystal and I am a mother of 4. My 3 oldest all ride dirt bikes and quads. Their ages are 10, 7 going on 8 this month and 4 going on 5 in August. I have gotten alot of heat from other women (mainly) for letting my 4 year old ride. It is something that DH loves to do with the kids and that is just his thing. When he first presented them with these gifts I was like no way but within time I have began to be okay with it. My kids have been invovled in drag racing at a local speed way and go out to the Sand Dunes just about every weekend with DH and his buddies. I guess my question is at what age do you think is to young? And am I wrong for letting them do so?

It all depends on the child. My son started at 4 and noe is quite a good rider. That does not mean that I ever let him out om my sight when we ride!! He also always rides in full protective gear that includes Riding pants and shirt, gloves, goggles, Chest protector with neck roll, and a dot/snell Helmet!!
If your son has the motor skills to control a SMALL quad then by all means let him ride when he is being supervised.
I had these same problems with my wifes Dad, He said that there was no way his Grandson was gonna ride one of those. I just reminded him who was the childs Father and then had him come over so he could see Andrew ride, now they ride together. Do not let ignorant people try to tell you how to raise your children, they are yours and you are the one responsible for what they do!

Hi Crystal. I`m Maurie. A dad of 3. Kids are ok to ride when they have the co-ordination and they understand 'hurt'. DH loves his kids just like we all do. The heat youre getting from other women is just them airing their ignorance or maybe even jealousy. Your kids will have a better life because youre letting them develop. Dont wrappem up in cotton wool, let your little one ride. My kids smashed into plenty of stuff here Australia. The occasional scratch and bump did `em good.

Any time you spend with the family today is great time!!! As far as I can see this Hoby is some of the best family time around. Not only riding but also the maintenace and cleaning time is a great oppertunity to teach your children responsibility!!!

Oh yeah, what is DH???

Chris

Also, this is a great place to get some wonderful info! Most everyone here has decided to allow there children to ride quads and have run into any problem you might come across
