04 clearance, what a joke
#1
Well I've been waiting since Christmas for the pred 90 to go on sale at my local polaris dealer. There a farm tractor type dealership, that sales polaris and bombardier products. Well I notice on there sign that they had ALL 04 polaris on clearance. So I give them a call. WOW there able to take $50 off of the pred 90. What a joke. Not only that. But this pred 90 has been sitting outside in all types of weather and ridden by I'm sure several customers 6 days a week for the past 8 weeks thats its been there. When I asked about the reliabilty of the pred 90. They said it all depends on how you break it in. Well I'm sure that after 8 weeks of bubba starting it up each morning to ride it out to the rode where they keep them on display and then there ridden hard all day by customers. I'm sure the break in period sucked. When I asked if he could get me a new one fresh out of the crate, he said that the one that was out at the rode, was new. Well it's not. It's a demo and that's okay. But dang. Come off the price more than $50. I just keep hearing on here how all these other people on this forum get great deals and I cant just cant seem to find one. It was a waist of my time to wait for the price to go down any at all. Here it is may and he was making me a better deal in december.

watzupdog,
If that dealer is "jerking you around" even before the sale, just imagine how his Service category would be rated at. My advice, stay way from that guy. If wondering, my AC 500i dealer jerked me around 5 times before I told him to "go blow". I now drive 45 minutes to my new AC dealer and the extra 30 minute (1 hour drive both ways) is well worth it. If you can, shop around your neighbourhood for other dealers. Someone who wants your "long term" comitment....
Regarding deals, here's what I've learned from others:
- One person purchased their Pred-90 from ebay. I heard they got an excellent deal on it.
- One person spent 6 months looking for a decent priced Pred-90. They go so frustrated with the high price, they went and looked at E-Ton brands. Low and behold, the E-Ton dealer had a Pred-90 sitting on their showroom floor. It was the first time they were trying to sell the Pred-90 brand out of their store. Just by luck, it was listed at a major discount - in order to attrack customers.
I guess what I'm trying to say is.... Lots of investigations, lots of time and lots of luck will eventually yeild the price you are looking for.
Hope this helps...

Once again I hear of someone getting a pred 90 at a major discount. Trust me, I've done my homework and there is only 4 dealers that carry them anywhere close to my area. 2 dealers want even carry the 90's and 1 says he does yet never has one in stock. So I'm stuck with my local dealer. My kids like the pred 90. But I might have to go with another brand or another hobby.

The Pred-90 is a good brand. Lots of suspension and its looks "very cool". However, the Pred-90 does have its "design improvement areas". I can say this because we own a Pred-90. Lots of little upgrades to bring it to the safety and mechanical level that I like. I know, my son loves his Pred-90 too much too.
As a thought, can you order "out of region" and have them shipped to you. Hopefully, one of your local Polaris dealers will perform warranty work on it (if warranty work is required). Mass discount + shipping could be a lot less then your local dealer!!!
If you are looking for another brand, I've heard the E-Ton Viper, Kasea, Extreme and Blast units are very good. Hopefully your "young rider(s)" have a second choice they can fall back on too.
Hope these ideas help as well..

Unless you just love your dealer, I'd do like Spike suggested and look at an off-brand or delivery. Also, LRX is basically the same machine as Kasea and the Blast. I've heard the LRX costs a little less. The others he mentioned are good too.
I've got a off-brand that I'm having good luck with so far. Be aware you might have to tinker around with a mail order quad to get some bugs worked out, whereas a dealer would most likely do it for you otherwise. I had to adjust the carburetor and alignment on mine. BUT, it wasn't hard and well worth the money I saved.
Good luck!

What I dont really get is the way so many people get hooked on certain major brand mini's since there mostly all made by some other offshore company anyhow.
There may be others but I think Honda and Suzuki are in short company when it comes to making their own mini quads.
To be honest when I look at the small guys on the Pred and Raptor 90's all I see is (well besides the ear to ear smiles) is how the lack of any effort in the suspension seems to be kicking their ***** literally. If you do some research you will find that most of the major brand mini's only have 1-2" travel, but some of the better imports or smaller company stuff can be in the 3-5" range which is worlds different in comparison. And dont even get me started on why anyone would want to see their kid getting beat up by a BS suspension, and how the solid front axle/beam set up is an insult to everyone.
So start doing some serious looking at the other brands and see what you find.
As a last thought has anyone seen those really cheap mini's that are being sold by pep boys auto stores? Now these are something to "behold" for sure. Talk about no suspension.
