Default Light on a LT80

I know this has come up before but I was having trouble with the site and it doesn't want to search for me right now. I am looking to add a head light and a LED tail light to my son's LT80. Will the stock stator run one or will it kill the battery. How hard is it to hook one up and if you can use one how many wats before it is too much for the system. I have seen the light kits but they seem pretty pricy for a little dring light and a switch. I know the make stators that put out more power but they are not cheap either. we don't ride after dark very often but just incase and as a safty thing on busy trails I would like to have one. I saw some really cheap small 35 watt halogen driving lights on a close out rack at wally world. I was thinking that I would use 1 35 watt and the LED tail light which uses hardly any power. Have any of you guys done this or do I need to suck it up and pay for a kit and Stator. If you did your own how did you do it? I have been able to find so many ways to save money on little things like this from these forums, it is great to be ale to ask other people who own and work on the same type of quads. Thanks

For increase safety within the dark trails of our bush, I too installed a customized from light. One of the best mods I did.

For details on our Pred-90, surf: - Press Here-

I'm pretty sure the LT-80 won't support a 35 watt bulb and an LED. Based on some posts I've been reading, you'd be lucky if it will support a single 35 watt bulb. It's factory stator system wasn't made for lights. For an upgrade kits that might work for you, surf: - Press Here - and - Press Here -

And yes, they are expensive. If you have several kids in your family and plan to keep your LT-80 for many years, the "price per year" might be worth it. Especially if safety concerns in a dark bush trails is very high on your list...

Hope this helps...

The LT80 won't run a 35w light and charge the battery. I tried it. My solution was to use a LED for the headlight. I found a clear 54 bulb LED the uses about 6w. I used just a regular 6w two bulb tail light. Total watt draw about 12w. The LT80 charging unit does this easy. I know there are some 25w halogens around, but I could not find any anywhere. Check my photo page to see what it looks like. The LED is a replacement bulb for those rubber coated utility lights. The utility lights have mounting brackets built in them. It was easy to mount and wire it up.
