Can anyone tell me if I have to put the pipe back on a 50cc 2 stroke just to crank it

If you don't have the pipe on to RUN IT I know it will damage the piston but if you are just gonna crank it and maybe fire and shut it down i don't see a problem. It will not run right though, It needs the pipe on it for some pressure
