Default How was your weekend???

My "boys & I" took our quads out today. We had lots of fun playing in the mud and spraying each other.

My AC 500i now looks like: - Press Here -

If my unit looks like this, just image what my son's Pred-90 looks like!!! Too bad I washed it before my wife brought our our camera. As you can see, we had lots of fun. So did my oldest son on the back of my seat.

How was your "quading around" weekend?

My son & I had our quads out last night. I was suppose to go riding with my neighbor but he didn't have time to empty his 4x8 trailer. It was full of stuff and with our 2" rain yesterday morning, he couldn't take it to our dump. To my surprise, my son wanted to go for a little quad run after dinner. We left at 7:30 PM and didn't get back until 9:30ish. We only drove 1 hour in the dark - good thing I installed a front light on his Pred-90. Unlike our previous quad runs at dusk, we took some different trails. We got a little lost, which drove us past our 9:00 PM ETA return time. Around 8:45 PM, we came down a trail between lots of evergreen trees. By the amount of growth on the trees and covering the top of the trail, I could tell it wasn't traveled very often. After 200 feet of evergreen trees, which was just like driving in a cave, we came up the other side and up a little 15 foot hill. When we got the to top of the hill, my son immediately stopped and turned off his engine. As I came up behind him, I immediately understood why. We were at the top of a sharp 200 ft drop cliff. We had just enough room to perform a U Turn, the sun set was 3/4 covered by the landscape and our immediate trees had an open viewing point. The view was so breath taking, we each stopped and in silence, watched the rest of the sun set. At moments like this, both of us wished we had our cameras. A view like that only happens once in a life time. When my son rushed into house, he couldn't wait to tell "mom" about this beautiful sun set. Come school time again, I'm sure he'll write an essay about that beautiful place and how we accidentally found it (while we were lost on our quad bikes). A place so beautiful, it was like "only we were meant to see it". A sunset so memorable, I wanted to share it with you too...

we had a great ride today. can't believe the stuff my 8 y/o can ride on a 2wd 80cc yamaha raptor. he goes where some adults won't go. I got stuck in mud really deep, thank goodness I was close enough to get something to winch to, or I'd be spending the night in the forest. we had a blast and took on some real challenges.

We went on a nice 4 hour ride Sunday after church. My sons and I ride in some tight woods with lots of hills and hollers. Most of the trails are either old abanded horse trails, or trails that I helped make when I was a kid. Its good riding and very seldom do we run across anyone else on the trail. In the 4hours riding, we only run the same trail once. I wouldn't say these trails are for beginers, but there also isn't alot of tough places, unless you want there to be. I will confess, part of our trails are state owned property. Most is not. We actually have been caught on them before by the DNR but usually after they see how we've cleand up some of these trails they don't say much to us. (as long as we stay off the county roads which is no problem at all) All in all it was a good time and fun riding!

Went camping and rode on some beautiful trails over the weekend. I was at 10,000' elevation yesterday, and the views were breath taking. Most of the trails were made by loggers in the 30's and 40's. They get steep and rocky - I can't believe the old timers used to drive trucks on those roads. Some of the old roads are overgrown and quite hard to see, but I like to find them and see where they go. I'm pretty much an explorer on my ATV - fortunately, the trails are challanging and a$$ puckering at times, which makes it fun!!
