2001 polaris scrambler 90 problem
Hi there--New Guy to the site...........My daughters Arctic Cat 90cc did the same thing. Simple fix!!! Unscrew the end cap on the exhaust and pull out the Baffle material that has loosened up. If its not there, drive the atv for a while and the loose crap should come flying out.

fastnature,
Is this machine stock?
Plugged up exhaust...caused by Using Wrong injector oil.

Carb needs cleaning including all jet passages. varnish build up. Water/trash in float bowl.
Seizure or wore out bore.
Transmission bearing failure.
Chain adjustment to tight.
All of the above.

scrambler
ok my little brother has a 2001 scrambler 90 that has all the same problems. i think it may be the rings possibly building up back pressure and forcing gas into the air box but would like some suggestions before proceeding with a complete overhaul. it also will not start with the electric start. i touched a hot wire to the starter and it began turning over but does nothing with the button. please help

have you checked the electric throttle control
its a safety feature to shut the quad down in the event of a stuck throttle it has adjustments in the owners manual.Maintance Section.I just bought a used 01 scrambler 90 that i had to clean the carb in and the starter drive gear is bad "teeth missing" I have been kicking this thing all day i come in to do some research and downloaded the 2002 manual from polaris "was none for 01" it was the youth owners manual and i seen 2 safety switches one the teather duh, and then the electric throttle control wich is in the throttle trigger and the carb go figure I will try it tomarrow hope it works for my machine

i know this is a pretty old thread, but i think i have some long awaited good news (at least for me)saw that many others had same issue.after changing out just about every part possible, the verdict is that the circuit that controls the electric choke solenoid on the carb. and not the solenoid itself is the problem.switched to a manual choke cable setup and solved problem.i waited for 3 months of positive testing before posting this.hope this helps the hundreds that have struggled with this since 2001.kit can be purchased for $60 at lakemotorsports.com.
