KFX 50?
#1
Does anyone know how much hp and or tq a kfx 50 puts out? The reason I as is that my kid rides one and it just does not have enough geddy up for him. The size is pefect right now but just no power. I am looking for a replacement for it. i just dont know if I such get another 50 that has more power or get a 90 and use the thumb screw until he is able to handle the power and grow into it. He is a very small guy too. Any help would be nice thanks.

I am not sure how much hp or torque it has, I have the same bike (Suzuki 50) and it is pretty gutless. My son can get up to about 10mph on it on a flat dirt road. There is a restrictor plate in the exhaust that can be removed for some help. My son is 8 and it still fits him, barely. I am going to move him up to an 80 or 90 this summer so he can ride in the dunes with me.

Have you removed both of the restrictors from the quad, one in the exhaust where it bolts on to the motor, and the other a pressed in piece in the intake tube between the carb, and the motor, have to heat it with torch to remove it. This makes a world of difference with how it runs. not even the same quad afterwards, I have also added a pipe air box mods and jetting to my daughters, and it runs very well. will even pull my 200+ pounds around anywhere now. hope this helps

My boy has a kfx50 and the quad is great except for the giddy-up!!!!! Removing the intake res. does help alot. Medicone..........what kind of pipe and what jet are you running??? Mine will do around 12 mph with my boy(50lbs) on it. Between us we should be able to figure out how to wake these things up.

Guys I ended up buying a fmf pipe off ebay for bout 140, it works well flows better and lighter by a ton. sounds pretty good, it's a good pipe for a stock bore motor, but graydon sells one with and expansion chamber if you plan on boring or machining the head, anyways i cut half the end off the air box cover also and can't remember for sure but i thing i ended up running the 70 main jet. It sounds like a weed whacker screaming when it gets on the pipe. Also do yourself a favor and get a little in line fuel filter for it. it'll save you alot of headaches if you ever let the gas get low.
I also went ahead and took the oil injection system off and use premix, the thing was always oil rich with the injector. My daughter races local mx on this thing and does pretty well. sorry so long hope this helps you guys. any more questions i'll try to help

My son has the same quad. I have the CT Racing kit (Pipe, head, jet & air box lid) It revs out pretty good now. It is alot better on dirt or hard sand, but the dunes still give it trouble. Not because of the power, but the single speed trans. I wish it had a CVT! Fastnature if you go to ctracing.com they have a dyno reading for the lt50.Text

Guys I have removed both restrictors but I have not rejetted yet. I just ordered the jets today so this week I should have them in. My sons 50 runs 15.9mph by my gps. It only ran 11 mph before I removed the intake restrictor by the gps.So removing the restrictors do make a great improvement.I will see what removing the stacked pilot and maybe some sort of K/N air filter does once it warms up. By the way my kid only wieghs 28lbs so he is little compared to most. Thanks for the link Vegas. I will post my results when I have some. Thanks for you guys input.
