Default Cheap GPX/Unison 90 rear shock upgrade

We have a 2005 GPX Raider 90, as far as I can tell identical to a Unison Desert Cat 90. The rear shock on ours is so stiff that it is useless except to hold the bike up. Anyway, was in the local Polaris dealership last week and they had a '05 Predator LE 90 on the floor and gave the grab bar a push to check out the rear suspension. I was impressed and after measurements and comparisons had a spring on order for our GPX. Polaris part #0452181-293, I paid $31.95. New spring fit great on our shock and now we have suspension travel that is useable by my little one. I know talking with Unison they have different color springs, not sure if they are a different rate though. Hope this helps someone as I've had alot of help from here. Thanks

.

Hey Bengen,

Thanks for the "heads up" on this one. We have an '03 Pred-90 and for almost 1 year, I've been trying to find a way to make the rear of our Pred-90 better. For my 135 lb rider (and 145ish lb wife), the rear of our suspension is "too soft". Way too soft. My son bottoms out even on the 8"-12" "wave" dips in the ground. Perhaps the rear shock off your GPX Raider 90 or Unison Desert Cat 90 would bolt directly onto our Pred-90??? Yes, the reverse of what you've done to your Raider 90.

Just wondering, does anyone with a GPX Raider 90 / Unison Desert Cat 90 want to trade their rear shock???? If so, please send me a PM.

Thanks for the "heads up" on this one...

.

This info might help.

Our shock is 10.5" eye-eye. The spring length mounted is 6.25" on the 2nd notch, this gives about 1" race sag, at the rear grab bar, when my boy gets on it. The original spring is 7.25" free length. I don't know what the new spring free length is as I had the dealer change the spring for me when I picked it up. The shock body is 1.5" dia.
