Some 50cc advice
#1
Hi all,
I would appreciate any and all input from you more experienced people.
Here is the deal. My 4 year old grandson has been riding since his 3rd birthday. Started on an old 50cc that his dad bought off a friend. For his 4th birthday this past December, I helped his dad buy him an LT50. It fits him really good. He is only about 40lbs. I'll have to admit the little guy has the nack. He started racing a couple of weeks ago. He loves it and is having a great time, but the LT50 just lacks the power.
His dad wants to move to a faster 50cc quad. Its not that I don't trust his dad, but if I'm going to help buy him another one, I'd
sure like input from others with far more experience.
Looking for some help to spend money wisely.
Any suggestions ?? Comments ??

Problem is that most 4 year olds don't fit very well on a full size mini and most micro-minis aren't really made for made for speed.
I'd probably make a few mods to it to give it a little more power and add wheel spacers to make it wider. Then try to get him to wait another year or two.

Thanks for the input. My feeling is to get as much out of this one as he can.
You can certainly tell in the races that when he gives it full throttle to head up a hill
this one bogs down while some of the other 50cc quads don't.
Any input on the mods that can be made to this particular quad ?
I'm an old car buff but have never worked arounds quads before. This is my first experience with them.

Check out the Redcat FX55. Very powerful and fast, 4 speeds, full suspension. My kids have a non-Redcat version of the bike (labeled as a 50). My dealer suspects it's really a 70 or so, and comparing the length of the cylinder with my Honda 70, it's identical, so who knows. (a 70 is just a stroked 50?) It's seems too fast to be a 50 or 55, so it might be a good choice for your grandson.

Thanks. I'll have to check out what the older kids in his age group are riding next race. A little more suspension
would be nice.

Nice trail quad, I'm sure. But it's not a race quad, Kazooooma.
Before you buy another quad webber1998, get with a builder such as Billy Holt at WRH Racing if you want to be competative.
1st class guy! Knows his stuff.
