Solid rear axel

Solid rear axel
Trying to decide on my first ATV.
Max speed 30 mph.
Low speed 2 to 3 mph for 30 minute intervals.
Used on some concrete, hardpan and rocky, brush covered slopes.
Is there a problem turning with solid rear axle ATVs? That is, does the front end tend to skid forward until the inside
rear wheel looses traction?
I will be using the ATV in brush and rock country where slow sharp turns are required.
Also, do the CVTs provide low speed (2 to 3 mph) power while twisting up and down 10 to 25 degree slopes?
Thanks.

Sounds like either IRS or SRA will work for you. There are no steering problems with either type. Generally, IRS will give a softer ride, will work better for things like a rocky or heavily rutted trail and will have more ground clearance. SRA will give a sportier ride and will feel more 'planted' on off-cambers.
There are many machines that seem to blur the difference between the two; The KQ and Kodiak 450 are IRS quads yet still retain sporty handling. The Prairie 700 is SRA yet it constantly wins shootouts under all different types of trail conditions.
Time to test ride a few and see how they feel to you.

Is this first ATV for your son, or you? You may want to visit this site as they are having many of the same discussions your are inquiring about. Good luck.
