ETON RASCAL 40
My son has a rascal 40 that I can not get started. I put in a new spark plug, new gas with a 40-1 mix. Still no start. If I give it a shot of startor fluid it will run for a couple seconds. I can see gas in the hose going to carb. Local shop is telling me it has a leaking crankcase seal. Does anyone have any ideas, I really do not want to pay $250 for the seal. Any ideas??

I had similar problems on mine until I switched carbs. I would at least try cleaning the carb b4 paying for the new seal. Could be the electric choke. Also, be sure you put back the filter after spraying the starter fluid and b4 cranking it. Mine WOULD NOT RUN without the filter.

Make sure your gas is fresh.Try putting your hand over the carb opening with the air filter removed to act like a choke. There may be something wrong with the needle and seat in the carb or a plugged jet that is allowing fuel to the carb but not into the engine. It might be a seal but I wouldn't automatically assume that without a few other tests first.
