Default Kymco ATV -Would you buy one?

Does anyone have an opinion of the Kymco line of ATVs? They seem to be a quality machine but are very pricey, close to the same prices of Honda, Kawasaki, etc. Are they worth the money or not? Any feedback from owners or dealers or just your impression is appreciated.

.

As a suggestion, type in "kymco" in the Advanced Search text box on the previous screen. It will show historical kymco posts.

Personally, I've NOT seen one or rode one. But, I can tell you that I don't see any "screaming loud" engineering design or parts quality problems. When giving this mini a better look, try to focus on:
1 - Young Riders Body Fit.
2 - Insterment controls & ease of use.
3 - Suspension.
4 - Stock "maintenance" parts & price availability.
5 - Performance upgrades. In the future, what cylinders, pistons, carbs, CTV, pipe, etc. will fit this brand??? Hopefully, the Performance Dealers can help you with this one.
6 - Re-Sale value. Especially if you plan to upgrade in 3/5 years.

Hope this helps....

waterfriendsfour i'am a dealer for kymco yes they are right up there in price but are cheaper but they are top of the line product look at the feature that the mxu 250 has over all the competion it beats every thing hands down also stay tuned to there new 300 mxu shaft drive with low range + early next spring the new 450 sport quad & 500cc 4x4 mxu. There a very big co. that will contend with the others i spent alot of time before i became a dealer for them to see if they where going to be a real player in the u.s market they will be trust me. I'am also a eton dealer they build nice youth atv's but they dont seem to want to go bigger. You'll be happy if you go with kymco + they have a 1 year warranty. Hope this helps i'am not trying to sell the brand just trying to help

Are Kymco's made in Taiwan or Korea or somewhere else? What sets them apart from Kazuma?

Thank you

What sets apart GMC from Dodge?

Kymco is Taiwanese/Chinese. I've been up close to the 250 Mongoose but I didn't get to ride it. I've been told they are weak on power (probably because of the cvt) but well built. The one I saw looked pretty nice to me. Be OK for the kids or wife but I probably wouldn't want one for myself.

As far as the mini's, I just don't have much interest in the 4-stroke 90's or 50cc quads in general. Just not enough power for what we do.

I'm fairly sure it a Taiwan made machine. I'm sure there are China and Japan parts in it somewhere, doesn't everything? LOL
The same 250 Mongoose that we rode last year in the 12 hours of ATV America, made it thru this years 12 hour race. We truely beat the snot out of the machine this year, and it came thru with flying colors. The only failure was the sprocket carrier broke loose from the splined hub. A quick weld and we were off to finish. 34 laps=170 miles of pure torture. 70 entrys, 61 finishers and the Kymco was one of them.
The 250 has plenty of power. It hauled my slim 250# butt up any hill. Impressivly I might add, we really had to hang on!
It is no speed demon............"YET".... I got the machine and I'm going to tinker!

The mini's are built just as tough and with the same loving wallet as any 4 stroke, can be made to go very fast.

Probably should add I ride in sand and my power requirements are little more stringent then most. I've seen stock 250's, trailblazers and trailbosses all struggle out there. But I do agree with the wallet comment.

I wouldn't argue about the sand at all "legs".
