DIRTBIKE MOTOR
#2
I don't know if I'd use the Raptor frame. I wouldn't put my son it with the front end of a Raptor. Maby if you had dual a-arms. If the air radiator would fit in the frame . The engine is very close in size. Yea it's done all the time in different frames. But it would have to race in the Mod class in a ama race. But you could race it in some outlaw series. But not in ours. Most classess are Production classes.

Worse thing about trying to use that frame is the raptor is shaft drive. The yz is chain drive. Therefore the whole rear would have to be changed. If your wanting to build a yz powered quad, you should start with something like a Blaster or 300EX frame, and then add the motor.
If your wanting to hop up the stock Raptor 80, you need to remember that its a better trail quad than racer. BUT.... you can add 4th gear to it. That will add alot of top speed to it. You can also put the top end from a champ 100 on it to increase cc's. There are also pipes, filters and I think someone (maybe web cams) that make cams for it. Truth is, it won't ever be as fast as the other 2 stroke quads. And with out major suspension upgrades, the frame won't be able to handle the power if you could get it.
