Default Kazuma 150 Electrical problem

Yesterday I received my sons new Kazuma 150. After getting it all together, I filled the battery and changed the engine oil. After hooking up the battery, I turned the key to make sure everything was working. The only thing that seems to be getting any power is the horn. The lights wont come on, and the starter has no power. I tried jump starting it, with the same result. The battery checks out fine. I've checked all the connectors I can find. I'm not sure what to do next. Help!

This may sound stupid but did you hold your right foot down on the brake lever when trying to start?

Actually that doesn't sound stupid at all, and NO I didn't. ( I'm not used to an automatic that doesn't have a neutral-- It didn't even cross my mind.) I'll do that. Thanks for the "smack" to the back of the head!!!

Will the headlights not come on unless it's started?

Nope, the lights won't come on until it's running as they are powered off the generator, not the battery. Yes, you have to hold the brake down to start then, it's a safety feature they have.

Ok, here is an incident that happened to me just for you to be aware.

My son dumped his bike over and the starter button on the handle bars got knocked. Went to start the bike back up and nothing from the starter, the brake was depresed, the key was on. It turned out that a piece of dirt got in between the contacts of the starter switch. I ran a piece of folded sandpaper between the contacts and it worked just fine after that.

This probably isn't the issue that you are having but just a note for the future if you need it.
