Default oxygenated fuels!!!

I am looking for people that have used the oxygenated fuels that are supposed to give your little 2 stroke engine a "good little boost, up to 1/2 hp" according the the sales person at our local parts shop. I am new to the mini quad racing and wondering if some of you have tried the fuel and have noticed any difference.

Its pretty hard to justify a $10.50 per gallon charge if it has no more results the running normal high octane fuel. I figure that I would ask all the racers out there for their take on the fuel. Thanks

Default oxygenated fuels!!!

Welcome to the forum rookiewrench, I have always heard that oxygenated fuels were better for 4 strokes.

Default oxygenated fuels!!!

I am running the VP racing fuel c-12 and am not having any problems with my sons quad but I was curious in the U-2 fuel or other fuels that have the oxygen in them. Also wondering if you run the oxygenated fuel if you would have to rejet the carb ??

The U2 is for 2-cycles and the U4 is for 4-strokes. We ran a full tank of U4 through a bone stock 400 EX with a pipe. The jetting was originally 168 main. We had to go up to a 192 main jet and adjust the pilot fuel screw richer. The bike had previously ran a best of a 5.85 in 300ft and went a 5.75 that night. The kicker aalso was that the track was in possibly the worst shape we had ever seen it and other bikes were running a little off of their time. It made a big noticeable difference. We are going to fill up a friend's YFZ450 for tommorrow and rejet it. I will try to remember to post the difference on monday.

Has anybody that runs mini quad tried the oxy fuel and is it legal to race in the AMA . The people at the supply place said that they don't think it is legal to run the fuel. Just wondering!!

I run the C-12 with motul 800 premix with zero problems. that is about the best fuel for the 2 strokes, the U-2 from VP is good stuff as well. The high oxygen fuels work better in thumpers, and must be stored in steel containers. If you store them in plastic, you lose the high oxygen levels through the porrus plastic.

Some oxygen fuels are legal. Check the ATVA website for details.
