more speed for 05 preditor 50
#1
my 5 year old is falling way behind his 8 year old brother on his xr 50 and he needs a little more speed out of his preditor 50. Ive done a little reading and am I correct that I can put on a different rear sprocket from a 90? If so wheres the best place to get one?
What about pipes and intake mods? I would like to stay with just bolt ons and no big bores. I have made it much fast with the cdi wire elimination thats explaned in the manual.
Lastly his thumb kills him after riding for a 3 day desert trip so I eliminated the oil injection and now premix and that made it a little easier for him but its still bothers him so much that he doesnt want to ride after and couple of days. Any suggestions on that?
Thanks for any help and any possible web sites to look at for mods! Ryan

Welcome to this forum Ryan...
Not too sure about mixing different Polaris sprockets. I do remember reading on another forum that Billy Holt from WRH Racing and his buddy turned a Pred-50 into "an instant wheelie machine". Something about "finally getting the bundle properly tuned and they will soon post their new recommended bundle on their Web site". As a suggestion, contact Billy Holt at http://www.wrhracing.net/contact_us
Before calling Billy (or other Performance Builders), ensure you specifiy the type of riding you do and where you want to upgrade. They will recommend their standard "bundle" or custom bundle what's right for you.
To stengthen the thumb, removing the Oil Injection and installing a Single Throttle Cable. This removes approx 50% tension. If your young rider is still getting sore thumbs, I'd recommend getting him a soft rubber ball. My son would squeeze a rubber ball every day and after a month or so, he didn't get sore thumbs or fingers anymore. As an interm, you may want to investiage those thumb control extenders. Some young riders like those add-ons.
Hope this helps....

Ryan, you can re-gear that quad but you are going to loose alot of bottom end if you want more top. We offer a pipe, filter, jetting, cdi, and clutch kit that will add a good 7mph with the same gearing you will notice a huge gain in accelertion as well. We have just finished these parts so not all of them are on our web-site yet but I have posted these results before under our forum topic at the top of the forums section. You can give us a call @ 651-982-6020 or e-mail or pm me if you would like.
