Oil Injection Removal Eton 90?
#1
I'm sure this has been covered before but can I get some pointers on o.i. removal?
I read where some people just remove the reservoir and the others who remove the whole system. Which is the BEST way to go?
Will I need a cover plate?
I just purchased some upgrades from Hetrick including an exhaust, is it possible to keep the electric start?
Is 32:1 the most common mix?

We removed the complete OI system from our '03 Pred-90. This Procedure is the same for E-Ton 90. For us, we:
- Removed the OI tank.
- Removed the OI tank lines.
- Soldered the little inlet going into the carb.
- Created a filler plate from thin metal and bolted it on. Had to shorten one oil pump bolt.
* Some leave the OI pump inplace. If leaving the pump installed, most remove the white gear. If you remove the pump to remove the white gear, take the extra time to create / install a filler plate. To me, it makes more sense to remove the pump and install a filler plate.
- Installed single throttle cable. This is a must if removing the pump. Cable from www.terrycable.com
- Premix ratio is based on Oil Brand. We NOW use Amsoil Dominator Racing Oil (I've been told that Amsoil Interceptor is better for trail riding) at 50:1. We also had to re-jet our carb due to pre-mix and modified factory Air Box. Today, our spark plug color is "beer bottle brown". Couldn't ask for a better plug color.

If you can, try to obtain a brand of oil that produces less smoke. Smoke in the system will eventually "plug up" the spark arrestor &/or piping system. Amsoil Dominator at 50:1 with high octaine gas works great for us.
For your Hetick upgrades and battery question, perhaps Rich at hetricks can help you with this one. No details in your post for this question...
Hope this helps....

Below is something I posted on another forum a few weeks ago. To determine which brand of Amsoil Oil you should use in your modified mini (if you choose to use Amsoil Oil), send him an email. He'll give you more details on the reasons why...
As per David, "for trail riding minis that use low to mid RPMs, Amsoil Interceptor is a good match. If Racing with high RPMs, the more expensive Dominator is better". Amsoil Saber is a good Cost Efficient oil for "around the house" type riding.
Hope this helps as well....

During the last few days, I've been doing lots of emails with David @ Synthetics@charter.net Phone: (985) 788-0554 Man, this guy is great!!!! He found some Amsoil sellers in my region, found me a much better price and answered many of my other questions. If you're into Amsoil oils and looking for assistance to "better the deal" or just to validate what you're currently using in your mini, send this guy an email. We'll worth recording his contact details in your mini-quad contact list too. Just in case you have future questions for him...
Hope this helps others...
