Thanks I appreciate and have understood what you've said. You are right very right. I have ridden around but ive never owned 1 so i havent that much experience. I have also thought about a blaster it is a great atv to start on until i get better and im sure my dad will like the price a lot better than the KFX. Once i get 14 or 15 i might be able to get a Kfx 400. You make a lot of sense and i will consider what you've said. I've riden a 4 stroke 250 but i just got so bored on it. the blaster is probably a lil bit faster... i hope because itsa 2 stroke. I went to the dealer today and a kfx 400 is just ridicliously priced. he wanted $7000 otd. i'm a pretty smart kid but i shouldnt overestimate myself.

I don't know what to say.. Young man, that was the most intelligently worded decision I have ever seen come from a younger member of our sport. I salute you for understanding what I was trying to say.

One thing us older folks are always doing is giving our opinion. In many cases we are trying to save you a lot of grief, and hopefully, you don't make the same mistakes we did. We generally do care about what happens to you... and it is nice to see once in a while, someone willing to consider another's opinion. There is hope out there!

I think you are making a very wise choice in the blaster over the KFX. It is powerful enough to give you all the thrills you can handle, and I think you will be surprised with what it is capable of. A couple suggestions on the Blaster. First, I'd switch it over to run pre-mix. Easily done. The deal;er can show you how, or do it for you. Second, if looking at used machines, make sure to get a late model one that has disc brakes. You might also try and get the front end a little wider by using a widening kit. The cheap method is using stud extenders. It will greatly improve the handling and stability. If you can afford it, you might consider wider rear axle and wider a-arms. All safety enhancements.

Get to know the machine, and ride it to it's fullest extent before considering moving up again. The blaster is powerful enough and is a good teaching machine. Plus, there are tons of hop up parts to make it even faster when the skills improve. I think you will have fun for several years on it.

Good luck ! And thanks for taking time to listen.

Dragginbutt,
I see you posted that you should get rid of the injection. My son is 10 and has a blaster. Its an 05. I asked my dealer about doing premix and he said the new injectors are fine. I disabled my daughters eton. It was easy. Is the blaster about the same? I would like to just disable and not rip everything off so when i sell it, I can tell them it still has the injector. Do you have simple instructions for the blaster in doing this?

Well I had my dealer do ours... all it took was simply using the correct size ball bearing in the injection hose. I admit ours was an older model, but I can't say I can trust any injection onthe newer ones any more or less.

I just feel better knowing exactly what my ratio is... and not trusting something to dumb luck. After a few rebuilds of the top end, I haven't trusted them. Maybe that is old school. But simple insurance in my book.

I did not have to remove the injector pump or anything like that... Just the ball bearing. It has to be a tight fit so it does not get sucked into the engine though.

The blaster does ok on trails. I personally think its better on a track. The 4 strokes are better in the trails. I am not sure how tall you are, but for me, I am 5'11 I feel to cramped up on it. My son is only 10 so it is good for him.
This machine is oil injected so you dont have to mix gas, but alot of people dont like to take the chance if the injection fails.

The blaster is one of those machines that fits in between a full sized sport model and a mini. You almost need to sit on one... and it really depends on your riding style etc. If you feel stretched out on the KFX, you will probably like the Blaster a whole lot more. My eldest son had one, and he is 6'4". The ergos are really a personal thing.... what fits one guy may be uncomfortable for the next... so you really need to sit on one. Just in looking at the picture it appears the KFX is a little large for you at this point and that you are really reaching for the bars.. which would be an inconvenience... so I think you will be OK on the Blaster.. but again it is hard to say from here... Sit flat on teh seat with the feet on the pegs and drop your hands down naturally in front of you. There should be a some bending at the elbow. It should be a natural position. Next stand with your knees bent as if you were taking a jump and see where your hands and back position are. That should give you a feel for what it will be like on the machine under power.
