Well got a K&n filter And An outerwear for the son's KFX 80.(in the air box)Went to the dune this weekend and happened to notice that his FMF pipe had turned blue! Not just a little blue but almost black all the way to the muffler! I pulled the plug and it really did'nt look that bad(lean).I put the foam filter back in nd ran it the rest of the trip.Needless to say we are down on power!Checked the comp here at home warm motor ,throttle held open shos about 110-115 #s.Well what do you think? Top end time? Also do I have to pull the motor
if I have to pull the piston etc.? Also if its apart do I want to shave the head? I still run the oil injection fyi. Sorry about the long post!

The stock air filter on your machine is fine. A K&N shouldn't hurt or help.
You can gear up with the FMF pipe (11 front). I have no reason as to why it's turning black.
You can shave the head .030, that's safe. Remove 2 of the rollers and the oil injection.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

Can I still shave the head and keep the oil injection? Its much easier to deal with the gas issue. Also I pulled the piston the barrel looks a little scored the piston looks okay. I,m going to replace it anyways,unless there is something you can do to it.Also the pipe actually turned blue from heat,the rubber mounts even melted! Something went way wrong !
