Default Best ATV in the 200-250cc range? Kymco?

Looking to buy a new quad for my son and daughter. He is 8 and she is 6. He has a 50 right now and is bored to death on it. Very good rider the lil man is. I have been looking at the Kymco Mongoose 250. Rode one this weekend and it was a rather fun lil quad to ride. Way to stiff though so I would do something about that. I can pick up a used one for $2500.00.

What other options are out there for this type of quad?

The option you should consider is getting your kids a kids quad.
Sorry, but a 250 for a 6 and 8 year old just don't make sense. No matter how great of a rider, they are not physically big enough to handle a 250 size machine.
Your 50 can be made into a screaming 70cc machine, or maybe keep that one for the lil gal and get the son a 90cc machine. I guarantee you a built up 90cc is all that the boy can handle. Fact is he will need to grow into it.
Good luck and have fun.

Well I agree with LT80 somewhat, but if he's big enough, the Bayou 250 our 14 yr old is riding isnt too big or too fast and as we found it, it can go through ALOT!!

If he's looking for something quicker, get him a Predator 90. I wouldnt get him a 200 or a 250 sport quad, I think those would be too fast for his size.

My reaction is the same - Get them a 90cc class machine. As you will often see on thest boards - quads are not something that you buy hoping that your kids will grow into them. A 250 is way too large for an 8 year old.

Another point - a $2,500 used Kymco is not that great of a deal. You would be far better off to get a used Ozark/Z250, Recon/250EX or Bayou.
