Default I need some advice.

I've had my Redcat 150 MKII for a few months and it is still under warranty but I am having problems. Every time I take it to the dealer I have to wait for parts. The last time it was in, for the transmission it was in for 5 weeks, and before that it was there for a few weeks. Now I am waiting on a chain tensioner and a chain.

That's the situation, now my fiancee' is scared that if I go riding alone my quad will break down or I will get hurt because of some malfunction. I popped by my dealer today to ask about trading up to a KMZ 250. He told me with trading in my 150 (which i paid 1400 for) I would be looking at 1800 bux.

Should I trade up or not? Is it a good deal or am I getting ripped? There is another dealer in the area but I would have to make an appointment for later hours to go see him. Anyone?

When ppl ask about purchacing machines, most think that a dealer that has a good reputation, a well equiped parts dept. and quality mechanics to be a important factor OVER what brand or the cost of a machine.
With that being said, I cannot imagine why you would consider another machine from the same dealership.
Everyone makes a lemon now and then, but your dealership is the icing on the cake IMO.

KMZ 250's sell for about 2,200-2,400. I guess he is just trying to make an extra buck. KBB now has redcat listed so go check it out. Here is the link to KBB. 05 150 is 810 trade in. http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/ke.kb.m...10645;;;;&&&&&
Retail is 1255.00 for the fx150 in good condition. Hope this helps.

Hmmm. This really stinks. There isnt a lemon law for quads is there? I mean the thing has been in the shop 3 times already. Once he gets the chain in and he will put a new tensioner on that will be the fourth. Pretty soon the quad will be out of warranty and it will cost me more money to have it fixed. He charges like 40 bux an hr labor.

I think a call to the better Business Bureau (SP) is warranted. You can find out about any lemon laws and give a complaint about your dealer.
At this time, I'd be considering the reliability of the big 4! I think I'd spend alot to be able to ride dependably, especially with the future wife worrying about you breaking on a ride. To eliminate that worry aspect would be worth most anything IMO.

That's my 2 cents on this subject. I wish you the best of l;uck with your marriage and riding!
Gidday.

LT80,

Thank you for the words of encouragement and the advice. My current plan is to go see another dealer in the area and work with them because I feel I am being wronged by the dealer I am currently using. Second, I will call the better business bureau and see about lemon laws and what can be done.

Incidentally, does anyone know where I can get a front fender (preferably low cost) and have it to me in 2 days or so? Mine cracked and when I get rid of this thing, it might be better to have everything in one piece.

Thanks again everyone
