Default I need some advice.

Well things are starting to look up for me. I called the other area Redcat dealer, to see if they would service my quad and they said they could service it but they wouldnt do the warranty work. The dealer I bought it from is still going to fix it and as soon as it's fixed I have an appointment at the other dealer to see what he will give me for a trade in. He quoted me a price of 1700 on a 250 cc quad so I'm gonna go there and see whats what after my 150 is fixed.

But would the 250 be as unreliable as the 150 beign the same make? Don't want to end up with a machine thats still unreliable.

Well, you know what I am hoping for is that I just had a bad stroke of luck with my 150. The new dealer is a bigger dealer, who carries parts in stock and seems to be more accomodating. The guy I spoke with was happy to help me and told me just to bring my quad in and he would check it out and see what he could do. Even though the 250 will be the same make, I hope that with it being a bigger quad it will be a bit sturdier as well. My personal feeling with the 150 is that for an ATV the tires may have been too small.

The kmz250 is alot bigger and taller. It also has the racks on it. Water cooled. I personally have one that my wife and friends beat on and knock on wood, nothing has gone wrong.

That's reassuring. Have you ever pulled anything with it such as a smaller atv out of a mud hole or anything like that? My brother, with his 110 got stuck in a mud hole on the property we ride on. What kind of terrain do you ride with your 250?

Send me an email to dmpropertycare@earthlink.net It will be easier than on the forum if you dont mind. I think you will be happy with the machine.

Classic example of purchase decisions made by cost. Don't be too hard on teh dealer, the company as a rule does not stock the parts in the US like you would find at a major brand. Even if the dealer didn't have the major brand part, the warehouse has them and can get there there is a day or two. The lessor brands are getting better.. but they are still not up to par with major brands.

I doubt the dealer is trying to rip you as you say. Dealers, even car dealers must give you Wholesale.. you can't expect anything close to retail unless you are selling it yourself.. which is what I'd recommend if you want to get a decent price. Patience is a virtue, and this is a classic example of why you need to show restraint.

I doubt you are going to see a great improvement in quality if all you are doing is moving up within the same manufacturer brand...

Well, thats a good way to look at it...I guess. After I joined this forum I've read about people having problems with the 150 so I know I am not alone. As far as getting parts, the website for Redcat even says that they can send me the part in 3 days or let me know a lead time whereas the dealer has taken 6 weeks and has no idea if or when the parts are coming. It has been 4 already on a chain and tensioner. Furthermore, the other area dealer said that they have most parts in stock. Whether they buy a bunch and then have some kind of deal with the company for reimbursement or what I have no idea.

I have only read good things about the 250cc atv too.

With the dealer trying to rip me, I have seen the model I want being sold for as little as 1,899 one one website with free shipping and the other dealer in my area quoted me a price in that area as well. Like chubbysdad said as well redcat is now listed on kbb.com and as little as my quad has been used it is near new (with exception of a cracked fender) and the dealer didnt even offer me near blue book for it.

But I'm just sayin is all.
