Default new tires - can I mount them?

I just ordered some Shredder 18x9.5x8 for the rear of a Kasea 90. The tires will be put on the stock rims. Will I be able to get these tires mounted on the rims by myself or should I let a tire/cycle store do it?

I'd let the tire shop do it if you have spendin money...but if you are ready to bloody some knuckles and swear some swear words then by all means go for it...the hardest part will be breaking the bead

Default new tires - can I mount them?

A friend of mine took a Saturday afternoon to mount his new rear ATV tires. For the life of us we couldn't break the seal. We tried driving over the edge of the tire with the truck -- didn't work. We then tried to cut the tire off. Well there are like 20 steel bands holding that tire onto the rim. I had to use a stinking Dremel to cut them off. Then we tried to mount the tires...no go.

Gave up and drank beers. The next day we took them to Pep Boys and they did them for $10 a tire.

Putting the new tires on the old wheels should not be a problem. Getting the old tires off is usually the problem. (like mentioned) Installing the new ones can usually be done with no tools if you soap the tire up with dish soap before you start. (the bead of coarse)

Default new tires - can I mount them?

One night at the track, I decided I wanted to change the rear tires on my son's mini quad......No problem I thought.

We pushed and pryed, and pushed and pryed, nope, tires weren't coming off.

Let's run over the edge of them with the truck.....that should break the bead.......Nope, bead still firmly seated.

I just couldn't give up.......Then we had an idea!

I placed the tire underneath the tounge jack on the trailer.......With the trailer still hooked up to the truck.....

It worked like a charm......It broke the bead with ease....

If I was at home, I'd probably would have brought them in to be done, but at the track, I had to improvise, and it worked!

WE have a 2-Ton shop press that our welder made different size steel rings that go right on the bead & then we put it int he press works like a CHARM We use it for the mini's, sporties, haven't tried a UTE yet I don't think that'll ;probably be next!

Thanks all, it's a done deal now. A local tire store did the two tires for $20. Based on watching the technician in the shop, it was worth it. I did try the trailer jack method and it looked like it was going to work, I think if I had left a little more air in the tire it might have worked.

Glad ya got em done, gotta watch the tire shops though we took a set of TRX90 rims w/ stock tires on them to one & they goofed up the rims pretty good they do our blaster tires all the time w/ no issues, said the stockers were a biotch!!!! They still hold air but you can see where they are messed up!!
