Default Silicone or regular gasket?'

I am getting ready to put the clutch side cover back on my LT80 and was wondering if it was ok to use a quality silicone to seal it up or if I need to go with the factory style paper gasket. I'm not sure if the factory gasket is used for any type of sidecover clearance so I thought I'd better ask! Thanks,
Jeff

On my warrior i needed a stator cover gasket and for some reason nobody around here had one so I went to the auto parts store and bought some gasket paper[like 3.00 for a big sheet] and made my own.Silicone and forget it is what i always say. is your old gasket tore up?

Yes, the gasket is toast. It is a 96 model and I don't think it had ever been apart. The gasket stuck to the case badly and tore in a lot of pieces.
