Default Yamoto 70cc Mod Parts

Elmo2resc,

Did you end up getting that 88cc kit for your son's Yamoto 70? I'm looking into getting the K&N filter set-up that MoparRob mentioned in a different thread, but am also interested in that 88cc kit as well.

Also - A friend of mine thinks a more aggresive clutch spring kit would make a huge difference with my son's Yamoto 70's ability to get going from a stop. On that same website:

http://dragonracingparts.com/engineparts1.html

where they show that 88cc kit, there is also this Heavy Duty clutch spring kit:

HD Clutch Spring Set - 1991 and older CT70's, Z50's, all ATC70s: WORKS ON QA50'S ALSO AS HD CLUTCH SPRINGS Heavy duty CLUTCH_SPRING_SET semi_clutch 3_bolt_type (old_type) 1991_&_OLDER ALL_QA50'S(200044) 200044 $9.99

Anyone have a clue if this HD Clutch Spring Set should work with the Yamoto 70 and/or agree that it would help.

I had installed the 88cc big bore kit (88CC_CYLINDER_KIT XR70 ALL YEARS CT70 82 TO 94 PASSPORT C70 TBQ88CYLKIT$99.99) which was a different kit then I stated earlier. The company recommended it. It was a direct bolt in. I added a 20mm carb, (part# 300012 $35.95) and an air filter. When I first started the bike it was to lean and from my research it was recommended to replace the carb. The carb was a direct bolt in with no additional parts needed. I also pulled the baffle out of the exhaust. It isn't too noisy and it seems to help. I still have to tweak the carb a little more but I was very pleased with the performance. I have a lot more bottom end and some more top end. I bought owners manual for the Honda 70 cc 3 and 4 wheelers. It will help you due to the fact that yamoto doesn't have a book. I can say this, All of you 70cc owners are very lucky because it certainly seems that these engines are almost identical to the Hondas. For 150 bucks you can't beat it. Any other questions please feel free to ask and thanks for all the input you all have given me.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Hey, just to clarify something from a different thread (to make sure our Yamoto 70's are the same), does your son's Yamoto 70 have a gear shifter with 2 positions, down is in gear and up is in neutral?

My son’s yamoto is automatic without a gear shifter. If I understand correctly, this shouldn't make a difference. I believe all they are doing is changing a few parts for the transmission and outer case parts. I believe the cylinder, crank, head and piston are the same. I wouldn't worry about it. They are not going to redesign the basics of an engine (that was designed well in the first place) that they copied in the first place. Take a chance and go for it. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Does anyone know what coil will fit a Yamoto 70? A sick ripped my son's apart. The coil is underneath the fuel tank.
