Mini Quad Wheel/Tire Upgrades
#1
My daughters Eton 50cc viper came with very narrow factory style Maxxis (145-70-7) tires. They are okay for putting around on dry ground but sink to far in mud or sand. My son has the same bike in a 70cc. The tires that came with it do real good job in all conditions. I was even suprised how well the little bike did in the sand. The tires on this bike are Maxxis 16-8-7 so they are a little taller and wider.
My question is this, what is the largest diamter tire I should consider for the 50cc bike and still keep most of the power? I would like to use the tires that came with the 70cc bike but they are a factory tire only available through an Eton dealer and they want $380 for a pair. Choke, choke. I have seen the Douglas Rims and various tire options for around $110 plus shipping. I'm looking for economical yet functional under most conditions. My feel is i need to get the 50cc bike a little higher in the air and then wider tires to float better on the sand and provid more traction in the mud.
I did buy the shaft connectors (wheel hubs) from Eton and they have the 4/110 bolt pattern on them.
I am even contemplating pulling the back wheels off my sons 70cc, put them on the 50cc and get him the bigger wheels.
Anyone have experience or suggestions with this?
Dad with one low rider 50cc.

Hey guys,
We just picked up a SunL 50 for our nephew about a week ago. I noticed that it could probably use a little more aggressive tire for the riding we have around here. However it only has a 3 bolt pattern. Is there anyplace to get a tire/wheel combo for this with decent tires?
Thanks.

Thanks 2many. I took a look at them and they look like a significant tire change from what is on there. Are there any other options for tires besides those? I didn't see any others on DK.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

I just got the Snow Hogs from Recreation.tires for my daughters 50. They actually work real well. Decent in the sand and in the mud. I got the hubs from Eton as there was no where else I could find them for that small of a bike. Seems like the factory tires for the small bikes are not real good. I think the value on the Snow Hogs is good.

SUNL 70: looks like my kids quad also need a tire size increase! The stock size is a 145/70/6 = 14" tall x 5.7" wide on a 6 inch wheel. From my "QUICK" measurments, it looks like the bolt pattern is a 3/90 for both the front and the rear. If this is true.......DOUGLAS makes a 8x8 and 8x7 in that pattern. I just need to see if the offsets will work. If so I'm thinking about getting some 18-6.5-8 NHS 4PR SNOW HOGS.

Let us know how this turns out. I'd sure like some upgrade options on the Sunl's, although it's tough to spend 20-25% of the cost of the ATV on new tires, add wheels and you're approaching half the cost of the machine.
