2006 Eton 90R 4 stroke or Redcat VX-110
#1
Has anyone had a chance to check out the 2006 Eton 90R 4 stroke or the 2006 Redcat VX-110?
I've been looking at both of these online and trying to decide which to go with. I found a local dealer for both, but the Eton dealer didn't have any 2006 models in yet. I did look at the 2005 Viper 70 that he had and it seemed like a good little quad.
The reason I really want the 2006 is that both have dual A-arms. One of the biggest complaints I've read about with mini quads is the stiff suspension and poor handling. I'm hoping that dual A-arms will help with this. The Redcat dealer didn't have a VX-110, but did have a VX-150 and the front suspension seemed really plush compared to other mini quads that I've looked at. I'm not sure if the Eton suspension has been softened up for 2006 or not.
The features that I want are: 4-stroke, reverse, rear hydraulic brake, 90 to 110cc. This will be used as a backyard and trail quad only, no racing.
The price I was quoted at the Redcat dealer is about $1000 cheaper than the MSRP on the Eton, so that definitely factors into the decision.
Does anyone have any experience with either 2006 model to help me with my decision?

I don't have any experience with the 06s but the dual A-arm suspension will make the front end much plusher than the single arms. The reason the single arms are so stiff is the front tire must slide sideways to allow the A-arm to move up and down since the single A-arm travels in an arc...With the dual A-arms the spindle can move straight up and down and actually work the shock the way it was intended.Handling should also improve greatly although our little 04 Viper 90 has alway handled pretty good in my opinion.....It's hard to say if the E-ton is worth the extra money but for what its worth the E-ton bikes have a very good reputation and I have been very happy with ours...I would really do your homework on the cheaper brands if you decide to go that route.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely sold on the dual a-rms. I wish this was a more common feature on the kids quads. Hopefully my E-ton dealer will get his 06s in next week and I can check them out.

Have there been any reviews or shoot-outs with the dual A-arms/Eton 90 4-stroke? Son's b-day coming in February and its time to upgrade. Pretty much settled on the E-90 due to: hydraulic disc brake, reverse, and easy light add-on feature. Just wondering how the 4 stroke performs compared to the 2 stroke. Right trails and creek crossings and thinking the 4 stroke may be better in the water.
