Default Kazuma 90 first impressions and mods

Just took delivery of my daughter's Kazuma 90 about 3 hours ago, and just now getting around to looking at it. Got it un-crated, and so far so good--- no broken plastics, welds all look at least pretty good, and it looks complete. Ill be assembling it this evening and will post the results. Stay tuned!

Well guys and gals I bought a 50 Kazuma for my 4 yr old and the little atv runs good for its size it seems to run good for a china built atv, now one thing I don't like is it is very hard to start in cold starts. any suggestions as well I own a LT80 for my 6yr old this thing is a 91 model and runs like a champ now pay attention everyone on this last statement...I bought an 1991 Suzuki Lt80 $1000 last year and I bought a Kazuma 50 6 months ago for $550 any questions!!! these china bike are throw aways if you want not problems buy the real deal suzi/Kawi/Honda/Yami/Polaris and you will ride hours and hours with no problems. I bought the Kazuma 50 for a reason the boy is a mom'mas boy he won't ride much and it will work for what I want it to do very little ride time! Now the 6 yr old would ware it out for sure! Maintence it is the most important thing you can do to these bike what ever the brand. you want 2 or more atv with a low budget get them if your bank book has extra save a little work buy a reliable bike like a LT80, ride on....

Whazupdog,Here's a little problem with your "scatalogical" analogy. I have purchached a brand new honda recon (2005) from right off the dealers showroom floor. It was all nice and shiny(didn't look like poop)and rode it about 20 hours and returned for first maintenance.Shortly(another five hours)after getting it back,it started to smoke like crazy(smelled like poop) so once again it went back to the dealership.Found that the clip holding piston came off and piston destroyed cylinder head. Now I have this quad that has 25 hours that has to have the head rebuilt. So,I have my wheeler back but now when I start it,it stalls about three time before it will stay running(even choked)and sound like metalic knock(probably oil from sump not reaching far enough up to fully lube until engine gets warm)so I call back the dealership and they said it's probably due for first major maintenance again but maintenance not coved under warranty even though I already paid $100+ dollars once already.Meanwhile,my sons kazuma starts almost the first time, warms up way before my "piece of poop"and has very little maintenance needs(loose bolts seem to be most pronounced)and compared to the hondas trx 90(which doesnt even have headlights)price of $2,800,I could buy three kazumas and stll be ahead and have plenty of spare parts to boot. So,my story is."It ain't poop until you sh#% it yourself"

watzupdog, are you old enough to remember when everything from japan was considered junk by experts in this country?

whatzupdog, also if you had taken the time to read DRUEand TYLERSdad original post, you would have seen that he was "impressed" by this quad.AS stated by example in my previous post, any quad can have problems. So if you care to say i'm "funny" at least take the time and comprehend what you are reading first...

Just a little update. My sons quad is still running great. I have yet to have a problem with the engine, and I have had it for several months now. I am impressed with the little engine. The suspension and steering I am most certainly NOT impressed with out of the crate, however for the money I spent, I can totally live with that. I have spent somewhere in the neighborhood of about 15 hours tweaking and modifying this little quad so that I feel comfortable with my son on it. I cannot stress enough how important it is to check the steering. Not just to move it from side to side, I mean really crank it. Set the quad up on its hind end and yank the wheels to either side. Watch the steering stop bar, if it looks like it could go past the point of no return or if it feels like it has some more give if you manually push it to the extreme, please dont let your child ride it. There is a VERY good chance he/she could be seriously injured. My son was extremely fortunate when he rolled his. The quad went completely over top of him without touching him. That, the ball joints, and also the space within the foot baskets are the major concerns.

Now, to address the "scatalogical" analogy. Im still laughing as I type this. It does not matter what you buy. Really it doesnt. Do some research on any consumer product in the world and you will find someone who has had a bad experience. There are recalls all the time from major automobile manufacturers when they realize they messed up and safety is at issue now. Im sure you could even find a woman out there who got a bad Tampax and continues to rave on and on about it. There are alot of people on here that are quite happy with their mini Falcon 90's. I am actually one of them. I have been one of the unfortunate ones that have had some problems, but nothing that I couldnt fix. I definitely do wish that either Kazuma or Raceway would push some of the issues I have had, especially since the safety of our children are in question, but I highly doubt that is going to happen.

Im still waiting on the new shocks. I had to have them reworked some more to get them how we wanted them

Bottom line. I paid under $800 to have this quad to my door for my son. I could have paid almost $3000 and bought a Honda and possibly had some major issues as well. I did not buy a Honda for his first quad though, I bought a Kazuma and Im happy with it for the most part. Would I buy my son another Kazuma when he outgrows this one? Not a chance. By that time, if he really is enjoying this sport, I will spend the money and invest in a Honda.
Personally, I think it would be ridiculous for the average joe, like myself to run out and spend $3000 on a first ATV for a child that may have no interest in the sport whatsoever. I paid $800 for my sons ATV, and had ALOT of money left over to buy things that I felt more important... A top notch helmet, riding pants, chest protector, gloves, good boots, goggles, a jersey, etc.

Just my $.02

I read it did you.
The first pargagraph stated that it arrived on time and that his kids liked it okay thats great, then the following SEVEN paragraphs stated all the problems that he had with it. But I guess I just didnt comprehend right. I guess neither did Bill2099 that said, "Drue After reading your post I'm GLAD that I DIDNT BUY a kazuma. Then there was sweetypie that said that she has had nothing but problems with it and it quit working after 8 hrs. she goes on to say that she is disgusted with it. Then theres drue again in another post after his first one that says that he has yet another dilema. THE BRAKES. I know such a small thing. Then theres drue yet again on a update post telling about how it flipped on them. Then in that same update he says "would I buy another kazuma after this one DEFINETLY NOT. This is the best part of the update telling us how "happy his is with it" And he says I definitetly do wish that either kazuma or race way would push some of the issues I have had, Wait this is the best part ESPECIALLY SINCE THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN ARE IN QUESTION. Thanks drue.
I'm not real sure about where drue stands here. I'm thinking hes upset and wants to vent and he does. YET. He still needs the help from the people he bought it from and thats why he throws in there a few good things. Hey I understand.I guess its like they say. You have a $5 head buy a $5 helmet.

Hope theres no hard feelings
