Hi im new to the forum and I'am having some troubles with my sons LT80. it will start and run for about 5 -10 minutes then it just dies. i'll try to restart but the engine will just turn over with no signs of starting. i then let it sit for a couple of hours and the bike will start again and run for 5-10 then die again any idea's .

Kinda sounds like a fuel problem. Did you check the to make sure the carb is getting plenty of fuel?
I use clear fuel lines with a fuel filter so I can see if fuel is flowing. The carb might be gunked up or your spark plug may be bad.

 

Ya checked both. the only thing im thinking is that it could be the battery. the battety has to be charges before it will start.

 

I'm thinking electrical.
When things heat up and quit, then cool down and run, usually a stator/coil problem.
The battery not charging may also lead you to the stator.
I'd pull the flywheel and sand/clean the flywheel/stator.

 

Check the engine compression. Mine did almost the same thing and had low compression. Its worth a try.
