Default JETMOTO 150's need help

Hello everyone. We purchased 4 Jetmoto 150's 1 for my 14 y/o daughter 1 for my 11 year old daughter 1 for my buddies 11 y/o daughter and 1 for my wife all as Chrstmas presents when they came everything was fine except for 1 of the brake cables looked like it was burnt through and did not work. After cruising around the yard for an hour or so our first bike went down and stopped running. After sitting for a while it seemed to be fine again. The next BIG problem was the bearings on ALL the bikes went, they were wiped out. We replaced them with American made bearings purchased locally, The brakes went on all the bikes with less then 5hours. The bikes seem to run good for about an hour and then get eratic and then die. After about an hour they start back up and run again.
This past weekend we went to tug hill NY and were scared the Moto's would not make it. 1 made it through the weekend but the gasket for the exhaust went and it's pretty load. one of them did the run ok and then die and then run ok and then die thing all weekend and the frustration for the kids was even worse then the adults. While riding on a PAVED trail my buddies daughter was in front of me and the muffler SHOT OFF THE BIKE! The 3rd one ran eratic all weekend and we had to keep the choke pulled to keep it running and by the second day it was dead for the weekend. Another problem they ALL had was the fuel lines desinigrated and had to be replaced all at the same time.
My question is were is the adjustment for the carb? The problem seems to be a an air/fuel problem to me or maybe it is overheating in time and when it cools it runs again.

I didnt mention the 4th bike cause I bought my wife a Polaris 250 a week after we got the Motos and the 4th bike was turned to a parts bike to keeop the others going!!!

I was VERY DISSAPPOINTED with the JETMOTOS bikes and there customer service in Cali *I live in NJ* was awful.... I would love to have someone service these bikes that was close but have already decided to sell them for name brand units. I would say for some simple backyard cruising these bike MAY be ok but if you are looking to hit the trails stay away FAR away There is nothing more dissapointing then going away with the kids and have them break down time after time after time.

If anyone has any ideas of why we had all these problems please let me know...........

GaryC,

Are the Jetmoto's that you own the new model 150's New Jetmoto 150 or are they the older versions?

If you take a look at my pics there is a pic there titled Air Fuel Screw. You may have the newer carbs which have the Air screw capped off. I have not seen this yet but have heard rumor they capped off the screw.

Clean out those carbs. You may be getting the black plastic flakes from the fuel tank into the carbs and the quads will start to run poorly. Also change out those clamp-on K&N style air filters, they are junk. Replace with a true K&N or a UNI filter. You may even have to go as far as to rejet the carbs. After I replaced my air filter, installed a new fuel filter, replaced all fuel lines, did the pipe upgrade along with some new jets, I no longer have any idling, starting, or lean condition issues. My inline fuel filter still picks up the plastic flakes from the fuel tank, and I have had my quad for almost a year now. Make sure your carb is securely fastened to the intake boot. Look for any vacuum leaks. You may also want to adjust those valves. The valves maybe out of adjustment which could be another part of your drivability problems.

Good Luck.

SB

This is my point. Raceway is helpful and go above and beyond...none better out there. However, we are talking about a guy w/ 4 having major problems and his kids getting let down. We are talking about 2005 being the old model...hello, I ride my 1974 and 1983 Honda all the time. Somebody has to protect the consumer...reminds me of the old Harleys....ride one hour, work foure? I hope the new 2006 or new ones are better...but I'd like to have 2 weeks with it first. SEADAWG

Welcome to the forum GaryC, you have come to the right place to find answers to your questions. I would try smb05 suggestion's about cleaning the carb and adjusting the valves. If Im not mistaken the '05 models were the first year of production for Jetmoto and a lot has been learned since then.

SEADAWG I understand your point! 2005 is not that old HA! ! But The new units are like night and day. They are a totally new manufacture! They are made 1000% better. If we did not believe in these new units we would not be involved with them!

Raceway we purchased these machines from www.JetMotoUSA.com and had them shipped from Cali. All the reviews I read back then looked good and it was not something we rushed in to. I want to say besides the bearings and the brakes for a simple backyard machine they seem to be ok. but take um in the trails and run them for more then a couple hours and then they have there issues. I will say once you let them sit they run fine again and so on. It was just that when we researched and purchased these machines I was under the impression they would handle light trailes for extended periods of time. I also understand that a compatible machine in a name brand would run about 3 times the amount of money. Now you say they are the older ones does this mean you can't service them? or are the parts compatible? I am right over the outer bridge so u would be very close to me.
I have replaced 2 of the machines already with 250 trailblazers and have been very happy with the machines. I am currently looking for 1 more and thinking about the Yamaha 350 Wolverine for my wife. 1 of the Jetmotos were used *sacraficed*to keep the other 3 going and that worked but a 1000.00 + parts bike is a little on the crazy side but when you see the kids faces when there machines shut down it was something we didnt even have to think about before doing it. I am lucky in the aspect that my riding buddies are mechanicly inclined but for the average joe oh my that could have been hell. If you can get parts for the 05's that would help out alot to. there are a few things I need to put the forth back on the trail again.
Thanks to everyone for all the help so far....
