I have a knocking or tapping sound coming from my tranny on my Baja 90 atv. Just wondering if anyone else has had this and could give me some Ideas on what it could be. I am now waiting for service manual from Baja

 

Just a guess but it could be the belt coming apart and hitting on the cover.

 

Can anyone tell me how I would check this, I don't have a manual yet and the kids are bugging me to ride, so I would like to get this sorted out ASAP. Any help would be appreciated

Did not think the 05 baja90 had a belt?

 

I don't believe it has abelt either, took off the cover to the engine right side couldn't see anything wrong, but i am not a mechanic. I think something is touching the side but not sure. any help would be nice

 

this is only my opinion but it sounds like loose timing chain to me, it's easy to make sure and to adjust, remove the timing chain adjuster bolt cover on bottom of engine, run engine tighten bolt until noise disappers, reinstall cover,
