I am so excited about the typhoon 125,

I bought one for my kid and he just isnt ready for it. He will stick with his 90cc for another couple years. I decided to putt around on the new 125 typhoon just for kicks. Let me tell you I cant remember when I had so much fun on a quad. I changed out all 4 tires to give 2 more inches of clearance and changed the cdi and now I got a rocket. My buddys kid has a redcat vx200 and I dusted it. I weigh 230 pounds and it moves like a bat out of hell.[img][/img]

Did I mention it was only $1499</end quote></div>

What size tires did you go with, I am interested in doing the same.

Has anyone tried to put different wheels or tires on the rear. My son likes his but in some of the woods races, he needs more clearance in the rear and the tires that cae on it are too low profile.

I bought mine from the guy on Bell Rd. but, at his sister store. The bike IS a Typhoon Extreme and the guy at Bell Rd. IS an idiot! When I delt with him directly he came off as complete idiot that liked to tell stories. He first told me he was the owner then when I asked questions about the bike he said the owner is out on business and I would have to talk to him when he comes back. WIERDO!!! My son has the 90 and my two friends bought their son's the 125's. The bike is great. Other than poor setup from dealer (loose nuts bolts, alignment) the only thing I did to it was put a heel toe shifer on it. Recently I added the AC nerfbars and bumper. I'll be posting more pis of it in my profile after this weeks dune trip.
Just so you know, the motor s based on the Honda 50 dirtbike motor. This is the platform that all Pitbikes are made from. So, replacement and performance parts are everywhere.

How are you for sure that it is a real typhoon? I searched xtrememotorco.com dealer locator for both of there stores and neither one of them are dealers for the real typhoon 125.

Well for starters it says it right on the bike. Which if it wasn't the real thing it would be illegal to sell knock offs with it's name. Second it also states it on the title. And lastly I have had to contact extrememotorco.com for a few questions about how to's and parts questions and they confirmed it when I gave them my info. Doesn't save face with the dealer though. He's still an idiot in my opinion and i would double check his bike set-up before riding. But, anyone with any mechanical skills can easily do that.

I recently bought a 125 Typhoon "knockoff" on eBay. 125cc AND a 4 speed manual transmission for $1,000. I looked at the Typhoon at our local PepBoy's store and couldn't see any significant difference other than the Typhoon didn't even have a manual transmission and it was selling for $1600 plus tax! Low and behold, a few days after my quad arrived, I stopped by PepBoy's and they have the Typhoons on clearance for $999. If it was a manual trans, I probably woulda picked up another for my other son to ride. Does anybody know what the major differences are between the two? To me it seemed kinda like buying a Chevy vs. a GMC...

Pep boys does not sell REAL typhoons, Pep Boys sells knockoffs. The main difference is the engine, Xtremes use harder gears, much stronger internal engine parts all together, better carbs on the 125's & also the frames are stronger & gussetted in more spots, where they can be prone to breaking. Also Xtreme puts on a 6 month labor & parts warranty on the whole machine, Pep Boys is a engine & tranny parts only at best & they sell no parts from what I have seen around here.

You should be aware that the Pepboys is a knockoff as well. The Pepboys model is a Baja, does not have the same transmission as the Extreme Typhoon. I stopped in my local Pepboys and asked them about it and the manager wasn't that high on the product, he told me that once all the vehicles were sold then Pepboys would not be getting any more, they were no longer going to sell any atv's or motorcycles.
I was able to find a 2008 model Typhoon 125 for $1799 but I have to drive 4 hours to get it. The closest dealer for me wants $2300.00

Hey TO, I would almost bet that its a 2007... not an 2008.... not a big deal, there is no difference that I am aware of between the 07 & 08 regular typhoons, but just so you know so you don't find out once you drive 4 hours

I agree that I don't think it will be any different, but I did ask if it would be an 08 and he said it was. I don't know if a calendar year has anything to do with it, but it wasn't being shipped to the dealer until Jan 2nd 2008. I have been really trying to do my homework on these things so I don't make a mistake. Maybe someone can ease my mind. My son has never raced and he is 9 years old, he has riden plenty and is very interested. The local track my other son races motocross on will only allow the minis so the extreme is what I have found, price, setup..seem to be the best. He will be racing against Polaris 2 stroke 90's and the Polaris 4 stroke 90, maybe a Honda fourtrax 125. The guy who runs the track said I wouldn't find a 125 to keep up with his 90....
