Dilemma..........

OK........here's a good one for everyone.....
My 15 year old son has been asking for a quad since his best friend down the street got one (a yamoto 200 I believe). So, over the past couple weeks the 'heat' from junior has picked up a bit, and so I began to slowly research, as best I could, these Chinese quads. I was pretty much set on a Jetmoto 200 for him, due to the seemingly better build and good service provided by raceway atv.
Long story short, my son has used me and my wife's ebay account before for very minor purchases (soccer stuff, baseball cards, etc.). I have no idea what junior ate for breakfast yesterday morning or what aliens decided to abduct his brain, but he decided to bid on one of these quads that I'm sure everyone has seen on ebay. Well, an even longer story short, he says that there was 'no way' his bid was high enough to win, but obviously it was, judging from the e-mail I was surprised to receive at the end of my workday yesterday.
Yes, it made me mad as a hoarse rooster, especially since I was 95% ready to pull the trigger on what I believe would be a better quad for him. However, he made the bed, so now he is gonna sleep in it. The ebay password has obviously now been permanently changed to keep such occurrences from happening in the future. After all, he mentioned something about a Porsche just the other day.
Anyways, I am going to post the link to the quad HE won. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...BSAA%3AUS%3A11
My questions are the following:
1. Is there any way to tell from the pictures what brand this thing is? I don't see it anywhere in the listing.....
2. Are there any things I should do right off the bat before he rides it....besides grounding him ? i.e. oil change, tranny fluid, spark plug, air filter, etc. If so, any idea what type of oil etc.?
Any other advice is certainly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Anyone in the central texas area have any hard manual labor they need done? I know a 15 yr. old kid who is ready and willing. .........All kidding aside, he's actually a good kiddo, I just can't believe he did this!

Welcome to the ATV Connection forums.
For $431. Who cares if it even runs. j/k I wouldn't think you'll get hurt bad.
The shipping cost is what I wonder about seeins they charge 250 (if I remember correct) to pick it up in person. I'm thinking the "handling" charge is where they will make their money.
3 month warranty "on motor".. beats no warranty I guess.
Heck, I just got a very small box of Zuki parts in that cost $500.
Give the kid a boot in the behind then tell him to go have fun.
You can tell me your password AND your Card numbers...I wont ever use them..HONEST!! hey thats a good way to get dad to get you A bike, hopefully my kids don't read this post. these guys make there money on shipping or a handling charge. make sure you get some kind of mco or mso out of the guy so you will be able to register the bike I don't know what type of regulations your state has some are kinda tough. if you have it shipped make sure the box has no damage to it ( they like to stick these bike's with the forks so if box is ripped make sure that there is no damage) report damage to trucking company rite then and do not except bike once you recieve the bike it's yours alot of times these bikes are sent out of warehouse damaged.
as for the warranty its not probably worth the papper its written on as for parts it can be kinda tough but you can usually find them.
you got a pretty good deal make sure you pay with paypal that way if there is a problem you might be able to get your money back. when I purchase bike's like this on ebay I usually pick them up so I can see them first sometimes these guys picture one bike and send another.
make sure it has a 17 digit vin# if it doesn't you won't be able to register also check the 10th digit in the vin this will tell you really what year it is some say it 2005 when really 2003
hope this helps I'm sure I have other things but, this should help you out a little
as for your son, thats up to you pretty smart kid . gotta bike out of you (haha)

this is how these guys make there money 100 to ship and 329 for them. some people never look at shipping untill the auctions over by then it is to late they charge 250 or something like that just to pick it up this is how they pad there bills. some people don't pay attention to this big ebay scam cheap bike padded shipping

Yea I did do the paypal thing.......and of course for $860 total, I'm not figuring that I'll lose sleep over it, but, my main beef was just that I was trying to find something a bit nicer.......or at least something that we knew more about.
Could either of you guys tell what brand this might be just by the pictures?
Thanks!

I think I would take a negative and a non paying bidders mark against my acct. before I would shell out 800.00+ . Maybe the seller would understand. I would for sure try and communicate with him. If he sticks you with the bike and he knows your unhappy he might not want to take the risk of recieving a neg from you and let you out of the deal. Good luck!

you would have to get the vin# and do a search to see who the manufacture is it looks like it has a lifan engine but not sure who assembled it. these quads all use same drive train and same frame just different parts after that
