Default 2007 kfx 90 need help speed limiter

Just bought AC DVX 90 for kids. Made by Kymco as well. Is there any illustrtion available for removing these spacers. Also after restrictors have been removed, how much will the throttle limiting screw slow it down (mph)

Thanks

The throttle limiting screw will pretty much slow it down as much as you want. It is physically stopping the throttle from moving, so screw it in as far as you like.

As far as removing the clutch restricter....I gained about 8 mph on my daughter's KFX90 by removing it. It went from 15mph, to 23.

I thought these topped out at 28-29mph?

Maybe they do if you remove the exhaust baffle and cut the cdi wires...23mph plenty for my daughter right now though.

jchris,

I also bought 2 ac 90cc (utility model) for my boys and absolutely love them. However, my boys are still to young to worry about moving the limiters, but below is a list of information that you may or may not know.

1. The ac has a breakin period. Within the first week you will need to replace the oil and transmission fluids. If you have not done this, you need too because it has breakin fluid and might I warn you it is a lot of fun. Obviously, Kymco and AC did not design the motor and the frame together because some of the bolts are extremely tight and hard to work with.

2. On the speed limiter, there is a nut that locks the screw. You might need to remove this nut in order to screw the limiter screw all the way in.

3. The ATV should run about 15 mph (90cc) off the floor. If you remove the speed governors, then you should get about 25 mph. I don't think you can get more that 25 mph out of these motors, but I might be wrong.

Other than this, I hope you enjoy it as much as my boys. They are all we expected and more. The only issue that I have with mine is they sound like they want to miss sometime.

P.S. Thanks to everyone that gave me their input on finding the right atv for my kids. I had to pay the high price, but they are definetly worth it as of now.

This is only while the speed limiter is on them and you're holding it wide open...after it is removed they no longer sound like that.

Thanks for the confirmation of this. I was wondering if the speed limiter would cause it to sound like it was missing. Thanks a lot.

My dealer forgot to give me the owners manual (will get this week).

Jimmy, is that info about changing fluids first week in the manual. I know you should do it sooner than later on the first change but that sounds very quick. What else should I know out of the gate. Kids have been on it alot since Christmas day.

You should change the fluids after 10 hours of use...may or may not be a week.

jChris,
It just says within the first week you need to replace your oil and transmission fluid. I personally used Lucas oils because they are the best you can buy for a motorcycle (or atleast in my opinion). You will probably need the manual to help show you where everything is on the atv and it is not the easiest to get too.

For the oil change, there is a drain plug on the left hand side (if you are sitting on the atv) to drain the oil which I removed with a 17mm socket and a flex head wrench. Then on the right hand side of the motor there is another screw that you will need to take out because it holds your oil filter screen. There is not really oil filter on the atv other than the screen. I got this bolt out with a 17 mm wrench. It is spring loaded and can be the devil to get back in.

For the transmission, there is one drain plug that you will remove. This bolt is hard to put back in because the frame is right in the way. Once you drain it, you will need to locate the filler plug for the thransmission. It is on the left side right under the sign that says Oil that is engraved on the transmission. It is pretty easy to get to, but hard to put the oil in. I suggest getting a gas line from your automotive store that will hook onto the transmission fluid bottle instead of trying to use a filter.

If you need to adjust your idle speed, there are two screws on the carberator. Make sure you adjust the right one, because the other one is for used as a mixture screw...

Hope this helps. If you have any trouble, you can call your local bass pro store and they will give you the number to their mechanic. The one that I use here seems to be pretty educated on these things.
