I'm having the same problem with the speed issue. I had a YFM 80 when I was in my younger years and it would blow this 90 away. I also need to increase the speed for my son as he has trouble keeping up with me when we're off the trails.

 

If I remember correctly...that YFM80 had no problem keeping up with a YFM125, and a KLT160. Unbelievable that the guy that I used to ride ATV's 18 years ago just happens to pop up in this thread. So is this Jeff or Chris? Man it's a small world, I'm now living 1000 miles away in Tampa, FL.

 

I think you are trying to compare a speed of a 2 cycle to the speed of a 4 cycle. There is no comparison, the 2 cycle is always faster. A 80cc 2 cycle engine will out run a 90cc 4 cycle engine with no problem.

 

The YFM80 Moto4, it was probably around an '88 or so? I don't remember that being a 2 cycle. You didn't have to mix gas/oil in any case.

 

The YFM 80 was a 4-cycle engine and a damn good one. By the way this is jeff, the name doesn't look familiar
