Default What is this part?

I have an SLA 90. While changing the oil, I accdentally removed the wrong screw plug. I removed the one on the sprocket side (left) off of the bottom of the motor. Out pops a nut, spring loaed witha 3 inch shaft that had several holes in one end of it. What the heck was that thing and is there a right way and wrond way to reinsert it?

Its so funny because I just got my kids quad and I was changing oil and I did the same thing. I was curious what it was. I was thinking it was the cam chain tensioner, I am sure someone will chime in and tell us what it is.

As for re-installing it, just put it in the way it came out. No biggie.

Chris,

I did too, but I had a wierd feeling in the back of my mind - wondering if those holes needed to be alligned with something...

Yes that is the cam chain tensioner. If you put it back in the same way it came out you should be fine.
