What do you want in a quad?
#1
After spending considerable hours viewing different forums I was curious about what it is you would like to see in a kids quad. If you were a consultant to a manufacturer what design would you suggest? Is there a specific brand platform you would start with and improve on it, or would you start out with a fresh design?
After viewing some likes and dislikes about these mini's, I may consider a new start up company with a hybrid line of quads. So, you be the consultant, what could a maufacturer do to earn your business?

In my mind, the near perfect mini:
-headlight
-brake light
-40"+ width
-full foot boards
-hydraulic brakes
-rear foot brake
-shocks with damping ability
-kill switches tethered and remote
-dual a-arms with at least 4" travel
-electric start with kick backup
-high powered 2-stroke cvt or 4-stroke semi-auto engine
-stock aluminum wheels (shaves a lot of weight...which brings up....)
-under 200lbs
Do all that for about $2k-2.5k and you'd sell some machines.

Raptor has pretty much nailed it.I'll just add that a sealed trans and stator would be nice so you don't have to worry about mud and water..Also an air filter that is up high and dry and easy to access..

Sir,
First, I agree with Raptor legs on the general basics. However, and this is a big one...if it is not built to the Japanese QUALITY standards at a minimum, with the parts support and people that will stand behind them the quad will become irrelevent. When Triumph re-enter the market...they lost their market share and went out of buisness...when they came back, the copied the JAPS...and started from there. They are doing well now. Copy or do better, but don't lie, duck the truth or BS...we'll sniff you out! SEADAWG
