Yamaha is starting in 2007 sleds with all four stroke engines....My question is why is Polaris not putting the two-stroke in any other quads. My daughter is 8 and she smells us after snowmobiling and tells me NOT to get her one of those smelly engines. After all pink is for girls and do they really want to smell like two-stroke!!!..Tough laws now and tighter emissions ...cleaner air.....two-strokes will be history....sorry.........caper...................

FYI 2 strokes can be made to burn alot cleaner than 4 strokes. But for 2 strokes in atv's the smaller ones wont be going anywhere soon. There are alot of companies that still put 2 strokes in mini quads. They do smell a little but not nearly as bad as snowmobile engines for sure. You can get low smoke oil to use. I just wanted to know why not a 2 stroke. Thats all. Most prefere 2 strokes because of the power advantages. Also Polaris still has a 2 250 2 stroke in the trailblazer.

Yes you are wrong!
Those who think 2-stroke engines are being phased out for environmental reasons are way off. Thanks to stricter EPA and California Air Resource Board (CARB) rules, manufacturers now produce simple, efficient 2-stroke engines that produce fewer emissions and offer better fuel economy than older models. For example, Evinrude E-TEC and Mercury OptiMax engines are rated three stars by CARB as low-emissions engines and already meet CARB ? stricter than EPA ? 2008 regulations. Two-stroke engines also continue to become more bulletproof (as evidenced by warranties that rival 4-strokes) and are far quieter than conventional 2-strokes, in some cases coming very close to 4-stroke noise levels.
The newest direct-injected 2-strokes, have no scheduled maintenance for three years of normal recreational use, extremely low amounts of carbon monoxide, and have an outstanding power-to-weight ratio.

It may all of a sudden smell better.
