This is my first post so please forgive if I?m not up to speed on forum etiquette.

I?ve read and learned a bunch from reading many post over the past few months. You guys seem to really know you?re ATVs

I read the few threads about the Kawasaki KFX50. I just bought one for my son from Santa. It?s a 2007, so it?s four stroke with electric start.

It?s there any thing I need to look out for with this ATV? I want X-mass morning to go smooth. IF I CAN WAIT THAT LONG TO GIVE IT TO HIM.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Yea, a helmet was part of the deal.

I rode the bike around today while he was taking a nap. It's a huge step up from his Powerwheels. The 20 hour break in period is going to seem like 20 days.

Other than the common sense things like don?t drive it off a cliff are there any quirks to these small ATVs? As it?s set up, I really don?t think it?s fast enough to get into too much trouble.

Congrats! Great selection for a beginner quad for your son. Not much to do as this quad is built with quality in mind. Just do the routine things such as check oil level, bolts/fastners, tire pressure, etc. before your son rides it. Make sure you follow the maintenance guidelines in the owner's manual and you should be fine. Alway's supervise your child when he rides and make sure you explain to him and remind him everytime he rides about the features of the bike, how to kill the engine just in case..., braking, how to turn the proper way using your body, etc.

Redsnook,
Already some great advice and makes me want to be your son. Great quad and great quality. I will add the follwoing if you don't mind:
*Throttle limiter, use it at first. It is natural...if you're like me to say you can handle it and can't.
*Saftey gear outside the helmet- Riding pants, shirt and jacket. They are designed to absorb just incase...you know what. Another thing I bought my daughter was the next brace...it is small and fits under the helmet...the younger the better.
Lastly, follow Mustang mans advice and keep us posted on here about the qualit and experience. Great job Dad. SEADAWG

Congrats on the KFX50, my advice is don't wait the 20 hours to change the oil for the 1st time, do it in about 5 and every 10 after that.

Last week we bought our 27 month old son a Yamaha TT-R50E with the training wheels and he loves it, it took him all of a half an hour to figure it out.

Good luck,

Tom

The neck brace is a great idea. Where did you find it?

He has everything else ready to go.

Thanks for input.
