Redcat MPX-90
live in Camden Arkansas
bought in camden arkansas at used car lot
paid 650
this forum provided me with loads of info to get the atv up and running(carb adjustment, oil change, check bolts and nuts,) My dad was also alot of help.
The place I bought it from pretty much told me I was buying as is. Not sure I would make that decsion again because reading some of the stories on here it sounds like I got lucky. My wish is that either in time more solid local dealers step up and provide a quality product or that the name brands realize 2300 for a 90cc atv is nuts and come back to the people.

LudowickMudslinger,
Do not stop until a bumper comes to your door. One thing bad dealers look for is to p_ss you off to the point that you give up. I would call 3 times a day until a bumper gets to your door. They will either start hanging up on you, or a bumper will mysteriously make it to your house. Don't give up nagging. It's the most important thing I can tell anyone who is dealing with a crap dealer.
Trailridercamden,
You will most likely have good luck with your Redcat. It's not a guarantee, but Redcat's are one of the better Chinese quads out there. Not to mention the parts availability is good.

Not to get off the subject but to agree with godIlove I to will fight to help people from getting screwed. After finding this website I called the place I bought my atv and told them about it and also gave them all the info I had and told them to tell anyone having problems to call me

I get tired of hearing about all the companies screwing the public. On the other hand..... Im also getting tired of people trying to save 50 bucks on a inexpensive quad. Then coming to the forum to complain. Why couldnt they find the forum before buying??

You are right about one part MWQ. The consumers should do some research on the quads they buy before they flop down money. And finding this site is just a Google away. However, people get lured by cheap prices. And whether they found ATV Connection before or after their purchase is irrelevant. They came on here for help, and we will help them. That's what this forum is for. And if they didn't do any research before they bought, I'm sure they know better now. But we aren't going to turn our back on them just because they came on here looking for help after the fact.

If it weren't for people trying to save money they wouldn't be in this forum the would be in honda or one of the other name brands. When I first moved out of my parents house I bought grociers at a place called save-a-lot and even there they had off brand and off off brand. The name brand can of veggies costs 1.25 then the off brand cost .75 and lastly the off off brand cost .35 some people can afford the best some can only afford the worst and they get stuck with dented cans sometimes old ruined veggies and that isn't fair and they should complain the whole problem with the world today is everything cost way to much because the people at the top are billionairs at some point they have to realize if we keep driving up cost people will stop buying and we will all be broke i.e The Great Depression. Raceway may be great, Kidsatvs may be great, and many others may be great but even the best are still the off-brand and just like the veggies there are still people that can't afford them so they go off off brand and it's not just 50 dollars it 400 and 500 dollars.

All,
Last year, I blew it and did the same thing. MWQ is right, I should have checked, but both quads I bought were the new and improved models...I got suckered and sucked in for cheap prices. In saying that, it wasn't the bad quad that ps'd me off as much as the dealer. I was shocked at how arrogant they were and how unhelpful they were...it still p'ss's me off to talk about it. That is why I'm loyal to John at Raceway....even though I blew it he helped me out. Told me what to look out for and call if I had other issues. Also, I rather pay for great service than have sh---ty customer service for free.
If you don't get your bumber, we'll kill them on the site and we'll call them and let them know they are getting raked on the internet. That is the only tool we have. SEADAWG

I'm not seeing many reviews so I will add one. This can be looked at as a long term test.
Yamoto 50 bought may 2005 from Raceway
So far this quad has held up fairly well. It is not built as well as a name brand but I knew that going into this.
The first problem that came up was the brake light switch failed. I sent a message to raceway about this and never got a response. This wouldn't have been an issue except the starting system is wired through the switch. When I got no response I just took the switch out of the system. Problem solved but no brakelights.
The engine is a little hard to start. So I took apart the choke lever housing and modified it on the inside so the lever had more motion. Ths helped close the choke more and make the quad start a little better.
I changed the front sprocket to a 12 tooth from the 14 it came with. It lets the engine rev up much easier and helped when going up small hillls. The turning radius on these is somewhere in the fullsize truck with a twenty foot trailer attached range.
The factory air cleaner is junk. I made a new system using a k&n filter.
The most serious problem has been the rear swing arm cracking. I found a crack about an 1" long in part of the swingarm. I corrected this by cutting some 1/8" plate steel to fit the swingarm. I then fish plated it. To my surprise I was able to use the mig and not blow through the metal.
The plastic is holding up very well. The original battery is still going strong. I removed the alarm system and the tether.
The muffler core has come loose. The spot weld that held it to the back of the muffler broke. The core just bounces around inside the muffler.
It's on my to do list.
I have replaced the rear brakes once. I found shoes from a suzuki that fit.
The throttle has been redesigned a little also. My daughter could not work it without her thumb getting sore. I made an extension that attached to the existing throttle. While she sat on it I custom bent the extension so it was at a point that felt good to her. She can ride for hours now without problems.
The suspension is way to stiff. The rear had an adjustable shock so that helped. The front is like a 3/4 ton pickup.
The biggest change I have made now is an engine swap. I found a used 90c motor on ebay. It is now in the quad. I'm hoping this helps with the hill climbing issues. We are at 5100 feeet so the 50 was doomed from the beginning. Make sure you adjust your valves. When the 90 showed up I ran a compression check, 60psi. After adjusting the intake I got 138psi. I'm guessing they sold the motor because it just wasn't running right.
There may be other things that have slipped my mind. In comparsion my kawasaki and yamaha quads have had nothing done to them except oil and air filter changes.
I bought this quad to teach my daughters how to ride. As soon as they have out grown it. If the are still interested in riding the next machines will be name brand. Most likely yamaha or kawasaki.
I would say if you are not comfortable working on a machine the chinese quads should be avoided. I can live with I have had to do to this one since I expected it to have issues, for under 1k that is par for thecourse.
