Help with quad carb
#1
Ok I bought a 90cc quad for my son it has a loncin engine and Raceway sells the exaxt same one, they call it the renegade. It is a new one and looks identical to the predator 90 IMHO. I have been having constant Carb problems so I ordered a new carb. I bought the quad with a 30 day warranty but I hid the quad until XMAS from my son so it was just out of warranty. The company has been really cool and sent me replacement parts pretty cheap but I am still having problems. This time caused by me I think. After I changed the carb because the float was cracked it will not idle down. The slide will not seat with the cable attached. It revs WFO as soon as it starts. It seems as if the throttle cable is not long enough to allow proper slide seating. The slide is not in backwards but what else could i be doing wrong? I know that this problem is from the slide being wide open and I need some expert advice. Thanks

Sir,
Call John at Raceway and talk to him. Sounds to me something is wide open either externally or internally. You dealer p's's me off, 30 day warranty around Christmas time. That is why I tried to warn people about these guys...it is the service after the sale. The dealers I'm giving thumbs up to is Raceway...and now kidatvs.com. Let us know how it goes. It sounds like something is just stuck open. At least take the air intake tube off and stick your finger in it or get a mirror and look and see if it is open or closed. SEADAWG

Are you absolutley sure the slide is not in 180 degrees out? It will slide into the crab 2 ways. The slot with the cable is going to be oposite of the idle screw. The idle side of the slide will have a small slit that will ramp out to the edge of the slide. I have seen this a hundred times. I have even done it a few times. If its the same exact carb there is no reason wht the cable would be any different. Looking at the slide there should be a needle in the center with retaining clip, spring and cable through the center of the spring.

Will the slide go all the way down without the cable attached? If it does then the problem would lie in the cable or throttle assembly. Does the cable work freely without being attached to the carb? Have you checked inside the throttle assembly to make sure that the cable is hooked up correctly to the arm inside the assembly?
If the slide in the carb won't drop all the way down without the cable hooked up, then the problem is obviously in the carb. It shouldn't be to hard to figure out why if you really start looking at it. Don't get to forceful with it though because it can easy to to mess one up. Look closely at the needle in the slide. Make sure it is hooked up to slide correctly and check to make sure it isn't bent. The carb should work freely without sticking or binding.

Thanks, yes I have done all of the above and the slide will go all the way down without the cable connected. I guess I just need a different cable. The carbs are of different makes but very similiar.
