Raptor 50 shift help?
#1
I bought a raptor 50 for my son last year and found out that it was slow. I did the carb mod and the throttle mod. The problem I have now is even if he has the brake on, when we shift it into drive it jerks hard! Does the idle or air/fuel mixture need to be adjusted after these mods?

There is a small phillips head on the side of the carb to turn down the idle, and yes I had to turn down the idle on it after these mods. In fact I am always having to mess with the idle on that thing.
You will not notice too much of an improvement in speed until you get a new CDI. The stock CDI shuts it down so early it cannot use the extra fuel you now have going to it.

rraa497,
the carb. changes will most definitely need to have the idle mixture and speed adjusted, especially if you changed the jetting. as the Evasiveone has most correctly stated the high rev CDI is a must. along with slightly larger tires (Raptor 80 size) I have clocked our 50 at 25mph and it handles the mud and sand much better.
