Here is some info on Boreem/BMS quads
#1
I have bought 2 Boreem quads from www.byxe.com and will post some info on them here.
The first one I bought was a 2005 200cc bike and I will start by saying I was very unimpressed. To start with the steering stops were so close together the quad had about a 30' turning radius. There was plenty of room to trun tighter so I ground down the steering stops to allow for a much tighter turning radius. Second the carbs are coated with some kind of 'goo' (sorry for getting so technical lol) for shipping purposes and it doesn't burn off like they say it will. So this one required extensive carb cleaning from the get go and not to mention there is no petcock so I had to drain the tank as well. Third the batterie was junk and would barely turn over the bike when it was brand new, so we bought a $35 battery right away. After all that it ran pretty well most the time but is way under powered and weighs a ton for a small 200cc quad.
Second quad from Byxe was a 2005 50cc. Same card problem as referenced above with the addition of 2 petcocks to clean out and a filter that was in backwards. Same battery problem as above as well. There is good news about this quad after all that it has been a good bike for my daughter. It is sometimes real rough to start at first (especially when it is cold) but then goes all day long with no problems.
Hopefully all of this will answer any upcoming and current questions about some of the off brand quads (I think almost all of them are the same). The main thing to remember is you are paying about half (or less) of what one of the big companies (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, etc.) want for a similar quad so don't expect the same performance and/or reliability. Also before you invest in one of these make sure you have a little mechanical ability or you will end up paying a mechanic more than you did for the quad itself.
